Scope of Work:

• Support UNICEF country offices from conceptualization through execution to launch, scale and/or adapt custom-built youth volunteer engagement offerings around climate and environmental action by facilitating strategy workshops and by providing regular technical/strategy support
• Support UNICEF country offices to recruit, onboard and capacitate new/existing volunteer practitioners
• Prepare fundraising proposals and relevant donor reports for volunteer engagement around the Green Rising
• In collaboration with the GenU MarComms team, draft external communications and event proposals to showcase the Green Rising, with a focus on the volunteerism pillar.
• Advise on & draft global strategy for volunteer engagement around the Green Rising
• Support the facilitation of events that bring together the Community of Practice for volunteer engagement practitioners across UNICEF who are working with young people on climate and environmental action
• Develop and disseminate toolkits and other guidance materials related to volunteer engagement around the Green Rising for implementing offices

Terms of Reference / Key Deliverables:

• Refine and update relevant volunteer strategy documents and communications with a renewed focus on Green Rising. Collaborate with the responsible UNICEF team (PG/CEED) to align the GVI Green Rising strategy with the organization-wide Sustainability and Climate Action Plan

• Develop and refine a toolkit of resources to support countries roll out the volunteering component of Green Rising including materials on strategy development, recruitment, volunteer management and HCD facilitation

By 31 January 2024

• Prepare and execute a strategy for dissemination and uptake of the toolkit/resources prepared including through training sessions

By 28 February 2024

• Prepare the donor report for the donor funding Green Rising programs in Brazil and India

By 29 February 2024

• In collaboration with the MENA regional office, design and facilitate a volunteer strategy workshop using Human-Centred-Design methodologies in close partnership with the UNICEF Lebanon Country Office, young people, funding partners and other stakeholders and subsequently prepare a workshop report. Provide technical/strategy support and coaching to help the office implement the program through regular calls and emails including to recruit, onboard and capacitate new/existing volunteer practitioners

• In collaboration with the MENA regional office, design and facilitate a volunteer strategy workshop using Human-Centred-Design methodologies in close partnership with the UNICEF Jordan Country Office, young people, funding partners and other stakeholders and subsequently prepare a workshop report. Provide technical/strategy support and coaching to help the office implement the program through regular calls and emails including to recruit, onboard and capacitate new/existing volunteer practitioners

• In collaboration with the MENA regional office, design and facilitate a volunteer strategy workshop using Human-Centred-Design methodologies in close partnership with the UNICEF Egypt Country Office, young people, funding partners and other stakeholders and subsequently prepare a workshop report. Provide technical/strategy support and coaching to help the office implement the program through regular calls and emails including to recruit, onboard and capacitate new/existing volunteer practitioners

• In close collaboration with GVI and the GenU MarComms team, advise on the Green Rising external communications strategy and draft associated messages, stories and other communications

By 30 June 2024

• Provide technical/strategy support and coaching to help the country offices in ECAR, including Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Serbia, to adapt, sustain, and grow their volunteer programmes to be in line with the Green Rising and to monitor progress and ensure support needs are met through regular bilateral calls, emails and/or site visits with each relevant country

By 30 July 2024

• Provide technical/strategy support and coaching to help the UNICEF Brazil and India offices – to sustain, grow and report on their volunteer programmes through regular bilateral calls, emails and site visits

By 31 August 2024

• In close collaboration with the GVI team, advise on strategy, prepare pitch decks and draft proposals targeting at least two potential donors to secure funding for The Green Rising

Qualifications

Education:

• Master’s degree in public policy, social sciences or another relevant field OR a first University Degree in a relevant field combined with 2 additional years of professional experience.

Work experience:

• Minimum of 10 years of relevant professional experience in volunteer and public engagement work
• Experience working in the UNICEF context is an asset
• Experience facilitating and developing strategies and tactics with multiple stakeholders across functional communities and in global contexts
• Experience facilitating workshops using human-centred design approaches, building capacity, and hosting internal communications
• Experience writing successful fundraising proposals, including slide decks
