Scope of Work:
Under the supervision of the Health Specialist, Child and Community Health Unit, the consultant will support country engagement, strategic country reviews, technical assistance as well as global partner coordination. Specifically, the consultant will be responsible to:
- Facilitate and develop/update tools and reports relating to the Child Survival Action Country Engagement, including:
- updating and reporting on country and partner dialogue through country engagement action team
- progress and needs tracking, including generating and updating up to date country profiles/data
- preparing tools and updates to support strengthening internal liaison with Regional offices (especially WCARO) and other sections, especially Nutrition, to improve alignment
- providing remote and in-person technical support to countries for priority setting, monitoring and implementation
- coordinating with and supporting CSA secretariat and with metrics and advocacy action teams, especially around country engagement, data analyses and progress monitoring
- Support to resource mobilization and grant implementation & monitoring
- Conduct a donor mapping as a specific deliverable for use internally and by partners and countries
- Support the development of funding pitches and proposals with selected Natcoms
- Provide technical updates and monitoring support/products for grants supporting child survival action and paediatric quality of care in 3-4 countries
- Contribute to the analysis and development of data products
- Develop, collate and disseminate tools, resources and learnings/best practices
- Update an emerging toolkit for Child Survival Action based on country needs
- Coordinate 2-3 webinars and country roundtables on Child survival, IMNCI and QoC with the Child Health Task Force, QoC Network, Roll Back Malaria and Nutrition partners
- Draft 1-2 case studies and/or one publication with Child Survival Action partners
Terms of Reference / Key Deliverables:
- 11 report updates on country and partner engagement activities and including country tracker
- 3 summary reports of CSA toolkit revisions and additions based on country needs
- 4 Report updates on grant implementation including for donor report
- Donor mapping for child survival conducted and funding priorities articulated
- Lives saved analysis for WCAR conducted
- At least 2-3 knowledge sharing/dissemination webinars held and/or in person events supported
- At least 1-2 case studies and/or a publication drafted
Qualifications
Education:
- Master’s degree in Public Health, Medicine, Social policy or relevant other subject
Work experience:
- At least 5 years of relevant work experience at national and/or international level in planning and programming in primary health care and child health and nutrition
- Professional experience in a managerial or technical expert position in child health or primary health care
- Experience in managing complex partnerships
- Experience in data analysis and presentation/use of data for decision making
- Work experience in low- and middle-income countries
