Task description
Description of tasks: Under the direct supervision of the Coordinator of the Secretariat of the United Nations Peacebuilding Fund in Chad, under the direction of the Advisor for Peace and Development and the Resident Coordinator. He/she will work closely with communications officers from other agencies of the UN country team and CSOs beneficiary of the fund in Chad. The UN Volunteer will carry out the following tasks: 1. Plan and design internal and external strategies for PBF communication, networking and visibility • Plan and formulate communication needs assessments for the PBF portfolio; • Develop a communication plan for the PBF portfolio and thus develop the capacities of stakeholders through the implementation of this communication plan; • Formulate the communication and visibility strategy for portfolio projects, based on the strategic priorities of the United Nations country team and the PBF in terms of internal and external communication; • Provide constructive and timely advice on the inclusion of communication elements in the formulation of PBF projects in order to integrate advocacy and visibility strategies into all aspects of PBF projects; 2. Ensure the visibility of the PBF through appropriate communication tools: • Identify and implement the most suitable means of communication for better dissemination of information and communication on the impact of PBF investments; • Support the design and implementation of various communication tools and supports to improve visibility and also report on PBF projects and activities; • Support the organization of PBF events in terms of communication; • Ensure media monitoring of the priority peacebuilding plan and the implementation of the peacebuilding program; • Create professional accounts for the PBF secretariat in Chad and manage social networks (Twitter, Facebook, IG etc.) to disseminate discussions and achievements related to the activities of PBF projects in Chad and ensure the evaluation of these communication tools (number visits, number of people affected, etc.); • Write and edit articles and publications in French and English on peacebuilding; • Write a regular update on the achievements of PBF initiatives (Newsletter, two-pager, information note, etc.) 3. Facilitate the acquisition of knowledge, document and communicate lessons learned and good practices from PBF projects. PBF portfolio: • Conduct thematic interviews with partners, beneficiaries and other parties related to the peacebuilding program to develop documentaries, films, videos and good practices on the activities of the United Nations system. • Create and promote campaigns that position the PBF in local and international media and influence peacebuilding based on the current program and new initiatives. • Ensure the management, promotion and dissemination of PBF secretariat advocacy materials for the launch of flagship initiatives and publications. • Carry out promotional activities aimed at positioning the PBF as a leader in the field of peacebuilding. • Ensure better coverage and understanding of PBF peacebuilding activities through developing and maintaining media contacts and providing newsworthy information to domestic audiences and donors. • Develop and maintain close contacts with government officials, multilateral and bilateral donors, civil society and the private sector for the implementation of the communications strategy, press conferences, project visits, training sessions information, interviews, launches, etc. • Develop innovative and creative solutions to sensitive or strategic public communications issues in the PBF portfolio. In addition to the above, UN Volunteers are expected to: • Strengthen their knowledge and understanding of the concept of volunteering by reading the documentation made available by the UNV programme, external publications and actively take part in the activities of the UNV programme, for example, get involved in commemorative activities for International Volunteer Day (IVD), on December 5. • Become familiar with and develop any form of traditional and/or local volunteering in the host country. • Reflect the type and nature of voluntary actions they undertake, including their participation in substantive reflections. • Contribute to the writing of articles on field experiences to be submitted for the UNV program publication/website, newsletter and press notes, etc. • Contribute to the Welcoming Program for United Nations Volunteers newly arrived in the country of assignment; • Promote or advise local groups in the use of online volunteers or encourage individuals and organizations to use online volunteer services where technically possible. 12. Expected results: • Internal and external strategies for communication, networking and visibility of the PBF are designed to facilitate the publication and dissemination of information on the priority plan and related PBF projects; • Communication tools are developed, disseminated and improved to strengthen the visibility of the PBF. • Lessons learned and good practices from PBF projects are documented and communicated.

Candidate must be a national or legal resident of the country of assignment.

Requirements
Required experience
5 years of experience in • Concrete experience of at least 5 years of complex program management, including at least 3 in the field of communication and techniques for collecting and disseminating socio-economic, peacekeeping or peacebuilding information; • Experience in social media management and the field of communication; • Proven analysis and synthesis skills; • Knowledge of the United Nations and its working practices as well as ongoing reforms will be an advantage. Requirements for using the IT tool: • Good command of office IT (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.); The Nations Volunteers program encourages women and people with disabilities to apply massively for this position.

Required education level
Master degree or equivalent in Qualifications/skills and experience required: A. Level of qualifications: Bachelor’s/Master’s degree Field of qualification(s): Advanced university degree in communications, interpreting and publishing, international relations, public relations, journalism or a related field . Specialized training in communications would be an advantage.
