Task description
Under the direct supervision of the Project Coordinator, the UN Volunteer will carry out the following tasks: • Support the project team in planning, implementing and monitoring project activities at the regional level. • Ensure the daily implementation of the activities of the job creation component for beneficiaries, in accordance with the established monthly/weekly work plan; • In coordination with the Project Coordinator, assist in the development of project tools, such as needs, vulnerability and capacity assessments, stakeholder mapping, beneficiary selection criteria, standard operating procedures for implementing activities, and contribute to the review and updating of all project tools. • Support the team in contracting with implementing partners specialized in the areas of microfinance, micro- and small business incubation, and capacity building, and support coordination with its recruited implementing partners. • Support the targeting of project beneficiaries: • Support the carrying out of an assessment of the technical expertise required by the selected mid-crop enterprises and by local businesses, in order to formulate the areas of technical and professional training. • Monitor the progress of incubation activities, provision of equipment and materials, access to financing through microfinancing schemes and capacity building. • Identify problems and bottlenecks in job creation activities and propose corrective actions to the Project Coordinator in order to improve program execution. • Support the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of activities with a focus on youth employment. • Support any other tasks, as required by the program. In addition to the above, UN Volunteers are expected to: • Strengthen their knowledge and understanding of the concept of volunteering by reading the documentation made available by the UNV program, external publications and take an active part in program activities UNV, for example, getting involved in commemorative activities for International Volunteer Day (IVD), on December 5. • Become familiar with and develop any form of traditional and/or local volunteering in the host country. • Reflect the type and nature of voluntary actions they undertake, including their participation in substantive reflections. • Contribute to the writing of articles on field experiences to be submitted for the publication of the UNV program/website, newsletter and press notes, etc. • Contribute to the Welcoming Program for United Nations Volunteers newly arrived in the country of assignment; • Promote or advise local groups in the use of online volunteers or encourage individuals and organizations to use online volunteer services where technically possible.
