Duties and Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of the Data Analysis & Monitoring Specialist, the intern will be responsible for the following:
- Support SPU on results planning and reporting processes by:
- supporting targeted data analyses (in Excel or Stata statistical software);
- Support in developing and updating Microsoft PowerBi data visualization dashboards;
- Support internal knowledge management and communications by:
- assisting in preparing PowerPoint presentations for technical leads and senior management, when needed;
- Support in keeping SPU’s intranet data-related page up-to-date;
- Maintaining monitoring documents on the data workstream
- Supports the team with other functions, as needed.
Learning objectives for the internship in this area:
The intern will receive first-hand experience in strategic planning areas of work, exercising their data analysis and visualization expertise, and will acquire in-depth knowledge of UN-wide data streams and data use cases at UN-Women.

Required Skills and Experience
Education:
- University studies in one of the following disciplines: development studies or other relevant subjects: statistics, mathematics
- Meet one of the following:
- a) Be enrolled in a postgraduate degree programme (such as a master’s programme, or higher);
- b) Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (such as bachelor’s degree or equivalent)
- c) Be enrolled in a mandatory national service programme of which the internship may form a part;
- d) Have recently graduated with a university degree (as defined in (a) and (b) above) and, if selected, must start the internship within two-years of graduation.
Language:
- Excellent communication skills (written and oral) in English are required;
- Working knowledge of another UN language is an advantage.
