Tasks
The Data Analysis Officer will be placed under the direct supervision of the Food Security Research, Evaluation and Monitoring Program Manager at the WFP country office.
The data analyst will be responsible for:
- Ensure technical coordination of surveys for all program activities (sampling, data collection and analysis, drafting of reports);
- Produce newsletters as well as periodic reports on the analysis of vulnerability to food insecurity and the evolution of trends over time;
- Prepare the TORs and budgets as part of the surveys and participate in the design of questionnaires and the training of interviewers;
- Provide technical support to field offices, and support in capacity building on monitoring and evaluation of projects, assessment and analysis of food security and vulnerability and on the use of standardized tools data collection;
- Provide training for WFP staff and partners on the use of data with specialized software such as SPSS, STATA, R etc., in the analysis of food security and market monitoring;
- Participate in the development of food security study and monitoring methodologies to enable WFP management and project managers to make decisions regarding the identification of cyclical and structural factors affecting food security and its evolution over time and in space;
- Participate in the technical coordination of evaluation surveys for all program activities, sampling, collection and statistical analysis of data then in the writing of reports and ensure regular monitoring, through a system and network of collection and updating of data on food security and food prices for analysis and decision-making;
- Produce newsletters as well as periodic reports on the analysis of vulnerability to food insecurity and changing trends over time in order to guide the planning and programming process of food assistance interventions WFP and its partners;
- Prepare TORs and participate in the design of survey questionnaires, training of investigators, harmonize and codify data entry forms;
- Develop and update on ODK, ONA, etc. and other platforms forms to facilitate the collection of data on Smartphone;
- Regularly update PAM databases through the creation and updating of forms and input tables based on existing tools to adapt and improve according to the needs of the Program and in compliance with PAM IT standards;
- Provide technical support to field offices, and support in capacity building in food security and vulnerability analysis, on the use of standardized data collection tools;
- Participate in the training of WFP staff and its partners in the exploitation and visualization of data with specialized software (SPSS, STATA, R, ArcGIS, Tableau, etc.), in the analysis of food security and monitoring steps ;
- Support the country office team in setting up interactive dashboards to identify areas to increase efficiency and process automation;
- Develop, produce and monitor key performance indicators;
- Liaise with internal and external clients to obtain an overview of data content.
- Collect and document the specific needs of the PAM Office using appropriate tools and techniques;
- Any other tasks deemed useful.
For this mission you will need to have;
A postgraduate university degree (at least master’s degree or Bac+5) in statistics, economics and management sciences, monitoring and evaluation, social sciences and development studies, supplemented by additional experience or training in social services , food security and nutrition, finance or another related area;
At least 4 years of professional experience in statistical analysis, econometrics
Good knowledge of the humanitarian sector, in the design of information systems and statistics;
Good quantitative and qualitative analysis skills;
Excellent analytical and report writing skills;
Written and oral proficiency in French and English required;
Ability to work independently as well as within a team;
Attention to detail, efficient and able to meet deadlines;
Be able to stay in rural areas and work in difficult environments;
Be able to work in a team, independently and under pressure within short deadlines;
Experience using computers, including word processing, spreadsheets and other software packages.
Knowledge of visualization software such as Tableau is an asset
