Main Responsibilities: 

  • Identify protection cases through community structures supported by DRC, local authorities, the protection monitoring team or emergency teams, and provide psychosocial support by directing them to appropriate services if necessary; 
  • Implement protection activities such as community awareness raising or training for community protection structures, local authorities and other representatives on the themes of GBV risks and their mitigation, identification and referral of GBV and protection cases childhood, psychological first aid etc; 
  • Complete and store documentation related to protection cases while respecting the principle of confidentiality 
  • Complete the administrative and financial documentation related to the tasks 
  • Adopt an appropriate attitude when communicating with survivors of GBV so that they feel safe and confident; 
  • Keep the mapping of services in the area up to date to ensure an effective response; 
  • Ensure the coordination and articulation of protection activities with other sectors of the project (economic recovery, shelter and water, hygiene and sanitation), as well as with other projects in the area in an integrated protection approach; 
  • Participate in the design and improvement of protection tools; 
  • Depending on needs and requirements, carry out any other tasks not specifically mentioned below which contribute to achieving the project objectives. 

Experience and technical skills required or desirable

  • Diploma in social work, psychology, all other training and experience in protection are welcome,  
  • At least one year of professional experience in protection, particularly in the management of GBV or child protection cases, in sensitive areas; 
  • Experience in administrative tasks; 
  • Good computer skills (Word, Excel); 
  • Experience in applying standard NGO procedures and guidelines;
  • Advanced command of French and Swahili – Read and spoken
