 Scope of work

The main objective of this contract is to support and assist the Governance and Territory Area team in the collection and analysis of inputs that support the different ongoing activities and collaborations of the area that seek to promote the participation and inclusion of citizens in political processes both national and local.

The main functions to be developed are:

a) Collect primary quantitative and qualitative information on citizen opinions of national political processes and local public policy and local development processes.

b) Analyze secondary information on the aforementioned topics.

c) Develop a bibliographic review on topics related to political participation and representation, decentralization and local development, among others.

d) Prepare minutes on the aforementioned topics.

e) Support the holding of webinars, seminars and other activities in the area.

 4. Institutional Agreement 

The Research Assistant will work in the UNDP Office in Chile. Likewise, she will work in coordination with the Governance and Territory area team. The supervision of this position is the responsibility of the Head of the Governance and Territory Area of ​​UNDP Chile.

 6. Minimum qualifications of an NPSA  

Minimum academic education required

  • Complete secondary education.
  • Bachelor’s degree or graduate degree in any social science discipline with a focus on research, with an emphasis on sociology, will be favorably considered, but is not a requirement.

It will be considered an advantage to have a professional degree in the aforementioned area.

Minimum years of relevant work experience

  • Minimum 4 years (with completed Secondary or Technical Education) or 1 year (with a bachelor’s degree and/or university professional degree) of relevant experience.
  • Relevant experience will be understood as the set of work experience that includes: 
    • Experience in research and publication in social sciences, using qualitative and quantitative methods.
    • Work experience in United Nations or similar organizations.

Required skills and competencies

Technical skills and competencies :

  • Have training and knowledge in qualitative and quantitative social research methodologies and techniques.
  • Advanced use of MS Office and statistical analysis software.

Desirable skills and competencies

  • Familiarization with the mainstreaming of the gender perspective.
  • Have experience in gender equality matters.
  • Demonstrate interest in the work of the United Nations and UNDP in particular, as well as commitment to the values, mission and vision of the Organization.
  • Knowledge of the operation of the United Nations Development Program, both at the administrative and programmatic levels.
  • Ability to perform different tasks simultaneously.
  • Proactivity and organization.
  • Ability to work in interdisciplinary team contexts.
  • Demonstrated ability in oral and written communication.

Required languages ​​(at work level)

  • Fluency in Spanish is required.
  • Command of the English language at an intermediate level is required.
