ABOUT UNICEF

UNICEF, or the United Nations Children’s Fund, is an agency of the United Nations that donate humanitarian and developmental support to children over the world. It was originally initiated in 1946 to give emergency food and healthcare to children and mothers in countries devastated by World War II. UNICEF works in over 190 countries and territories to defend the rights of every child, especially those who are vulnerable. Its activities include giving immunizations, disease prevention, and treatment for children and mothers with HIV, as well as strengthening childhood and maternal health. UNICEF relies wholly on voluntary contributions from governments and private donors.

DUTIES

The duties for Behavioural Data Analyst at UNICEF are:

  •  Liaise with UNICEF MENARO focal points to acquire and organise country specific behavioural data from IPSOS studies
  • Analyse the data by motivational factors, towards segmentation of audience and/or development of personas for the purposes of informing program decisions
  •  Conduct statistical analysis to support countries to understand and use behavioural data needs, data visualization and prepare comprehensive evidence-based strategies, especially to refine and disaggregate data to inform program decisions

QUALIFICATIONS

The requirements for Behavioural Data Analyst at UNICEF are:

  • Nominee must have an advanced degree that statistics, ideally coupled with behavioral or social sciences, psychology, or public health Background in child protection is an advantage
  • At least 7 years of background with data analysis using software such as R, Stata or SPSS
  • Demonstrated statistical report writing skills and preferably academic publications
  • Distinctive expertise in data visualisation, development of practical implications from data sets, and communicating complex data analysis to lay audiences
  • Fluent English; Arabic and French are an benefit
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and support effective work relationships with counterparts and external partners and ability to work in a multicultural environment
  • Proven capability to conceptualize, innovate, plan and execute ideas
  • Capability to take initiative and work with minimum supervision
