ABOUT ORGANIZATION
UNICEF, or the United Nations Children’s Fund, is an agency of the United Nations that donate humanitarian and developmental support to children over the world. It was originally initiated in 1946 to give emergency food and healthcare to children and mothers in countries devastated by World War II. UNICEF works in over 190 countries and territories to defend the rights of every child, especially those who are vulnerable. Its activities include giving immunizations, disease prevention, and treatment for children and mothers with HIV, as well as strengthening childhood and maternal health. UNICEF relies wholly on voluntary contributions from governments and private donors.
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Child Protection Officer will write to the Child Protection Specialist for technical supervision and the CFO, Wau for day-to-day supervision. The Child Protection Officer provides professional technical, operational, and administrative contribution throughout the programming process for child conservation programs/projects within the Country Programme from growth planning to delivery of results. H/She prepares, executes, manages, and implements a variety of technical and organizational program tasks to facilitate program development, implementation, program improvement monitoring, evaluation, and reporting. The Child Protection Officer will be roving within NBEG, WBEG, Warrap states and Abyei organizational region.

QUALIFICATIONS
- A bachelor’s degree in one of the following fields: international development, human rights, psychology, sociology, international law, or another relevant social science field.
- A minimum of one year of professional experience in social development planning and implementing in child protection in emergency-related areas,
- Experience in capacity growth , building partnerships and providing technical support to governments, NGO partners, and other appropriate stakeholders to implement child protection policies, programmes and interventions.
- Relevant background in program development in child protection in emergency related areas in a UN system agency or organization is an asset.
- Experience in both growth and humanitarian contexts is an added advantage.
- Fluency in English. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.
