UNICEF, or the United Nations Children’s Fund, is an agency of the United Nations that donate humanitarian and developmental support to children over the world. It was originally initiated in 1946 to give emergency food and healthcare to children and mothers in countries devastated by World War II. UNICEF works in over 190 countries and territories to defend the rights of every child, especially those who are vulnerable. Its activities include giving immunizations, disease prevention, and treatment for children and mothers with HIV, as well as strengthening childhood and maternal health. UNICEF relies wholly on voluntary contributions from governments and private donors.
TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The duties for Communication Officer at UNICEF Fiji are:
- Digital Communication: Digital transmission products and materials are planned and produced for a website, digital media, social media and promotional in line with Pacific, regional and global priorities, as set out in UNICEF Pacific’s advocacy, communication and digital strategies.
- Donor and visibility administration: Donor visibility conditions are observed and implemented to ensure timely production and dissemination of creative content, ensuring alignment with the digital communications planning tools.
- Digital research, monitoring and evaluation: Timely monitoring and evaluation of activities of social media media, website traffic and trends are undertaken according to the expected goals and supported to ensure quality, significance, and relevance of UNICEF Pacific digital communication efforts.
- General transmissions support: Communications team is funded to assure alignment with UNICEF Pacific’s advocacy, communications and digital strategies.

QUALIFICATIONS
The requirements for Communication Officer at UNICEF Fiji are:
- University degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, World studies or a connected major.
- One-year practical professional work background in digital communications including social media management.
- Monitoring and Evaluation background preferred.
- Knowledge/experience of digital analytics applications is desired.
- Experience /familiarity with content management system is also preferred.
- Experience in content growth for social media and websites is desired.
- Proficiency in the English language.
