UNICEF, or the United Nations Children’s Fund, is an agency of the United Nations that donate humanitarian and developmental support to children over the world. It was originally initiated in 1946 to give emergency food and healthcare to children and mothers in countries devastated by World War II. UNICEF works in over 190 countries and territories to defend the rights of every child, especially those who are vulnerable. Its activities include giving immunizations, disease prevention, and treatment for children and mothers with HIV, as well as strengthening childhood and maternal health. UNICEF relies wholly on voluntary contributions from governments and private donors.
JOB DESCRIPTION
The duties for Consultancy to support the Global Alliance are:
1) Deliver expert advice and guidance to at least eight countries (through UNICEF country offices and joint UN teams) to operationalize the Global Alliance action plans, with a particular focus on closing the treatment gap for children and adolescents,
2) Loan expertise to the Regional Office in operationalizing the Global Alliance regional hub and liaising with global and regional partners for smooth information flow and timely implementation
3) Report action through knowledge management, including the development of knowledge products, south-to-south learning, and support for monitoring the implementation of the Global Alliance in Eastern and Southern Africa
4) To deliver technical expertise for resource mobilization and leveraging for operationalizing the Global Alliance and closing the treatment gap for children and adolescents.

QUALIFICATIONS
The requirements for Consultancy to support the Global Alliance are:
Education
- Advanced university degree (Master’s or higher) in public health, social sciences, or connected field.
Work background
- A minimum of ten years of skilled experience at the international level, including field experience with expertise in HIV programming.
- Previous working background in Eastern and Southern Africa on HIV programming with a specific focus on treatment and viral suppression is an added advantage.
- Ability to examine complex technical information and present it to non-technical audiences.
- Precise , creative, and versatile writing skills
- Background in resource mobilization and partner relations
- Previous experience working with UNICEF is highly desirable.
Language
- Fluency in English is demanded. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.
