ABOUT HABITAT
UN-Habitat is the United Nations agency for human colonies and sustainable urban development. It was established in 1977 and is mandated by the UN General Assembly to encourage socially and environmentally sustainable towns and cities with the goal of providing sufficient shelter for all. UN-Habitat promotes transformative change in cities and human settlements through understanding, policy advice, technical assistance, and collaborative action. The organization’s mandate emanates from the Habitat Agenda, adopted by the United Nations Conference on Human Settlements (Habitat II) in Istanbul, Turkey, in 1996. UN-Habitat is a member of the United Nations Development Group and has a governance frame made up of three decision-making bodies: the UN-Habitat Assembly, an executive board, and a Committee of Permanent Representatives
JOB DESCRIPTION
• Work on the geo-analysis work beneath the Young Gamechangers Initiative Project
• Furnish Training of Trainers to implementing partners and country offices
• Entertain in workshops and consolidating projects partnerships
• Write technical and normative outputs, including the spatial strategy, situational analysis reports, public space design suggestions, maps, plans, and guidelines for green areas and associated public spaces.
• Design maps, graphics and statistics through collection, compilation, spatialisation, analysis and interpretation of spatial data.
• Gripping on events promoted by UN-Habitat and partners to strengthen the Programme’s including the UN-Habitat Assembly, amongst others.
• Be accountable for maintaining an organised and accessible information file.
• Partake in missions if requested.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Academic capability : University degree in Geography, Landscape Architecture, Architecture, Urban Planning, Urban Studies or related subjects is needed.
- At least four (2) years of background working in urban planning and design with knowledge in geospatial analysis, mapping and cartography using GIS and CAD tools is required.
- Background and knowledge of data gathering, digitizing, cleaning, visualization and management is an added benefit.
- Understanding of industry leading applications for urban analysis, such as ArcGIS, Auto CAD,QGIS, Earth Engine, Sketch-up and Adobe is desirable
- Other office software crafts like Microsoft Office, PowerBI is an asset
- Fluency in English is demanded. Experience in other languages, including French, Arabic, and Swahili, is an asset.
