JOB DESCRIPTION
- Complete daily field visits to identify legal needs.
- Deliver individual legal counseling , advice, casework services and representation before courts and administrative bodies in places of civil documentation, personal status, family law, HLP, and possibly detention and missing person cases.
- Carry out all legal assistance in line with Iraqi law, Humanitarian Principles, and internal ethical and best practice procedures including all Standard Operating Procedures linked to the legal program, as well as the IRC Way Policy.
- Support on behalf of clients and make direct interventions with local authorities (e.g. phone calls, letters or meetings) or other societies (NGOs) or international organizations (UN), were appropriate.
- Provide legal understanding sessions based on previously identified needs, to the communities, mainly on civil documentation, private status, family law, HLP, and possibly detention and missing person cases.
- Ensure all case files are complete with court copies , receipts, signed Legal Service Agreements and case closure forms. Archive all legal cases in assured storage within the IRC office, in individual casefiles, ensuring respect of client confidentiality.
- Preserve correct and modernized and accurate documentation of all legal activities on the CommCare data management system.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in law.
- Associate of Iraq Bar Association (class B).
- At least 2-4 years experience in rehearsing law (practitioner degree).
- Experience operating in an NGO or working in the humanitarian/development sector.
- Experience working with IDPs, returnees and keeper communities.
- Belief in human rights including gender parity.
- Strong respect for moral legal practice.
- Background working with people from different backgrounds.
- Functional understanding of Microsoft office applications.
