ABOUT ORGANIZATION
UNICEF, or the United Nations Children’s Fund, is an agency of the United Nations that donate humanitarian and developmental support to children over the world. It was originally initiated in 1946 to give emergency food and healthcare to children and mothers in countries devastated by World War II. UNICEF works in over 190 countries and territories to defend the rights of every child, especially those who are vulnerable. Its activities include giving immunizations, disease prevention, and treatment for children and mothers with HIV, as well as strengthening childhood and maternal health. UNICEF relies wholly on voluntary contributions from governments and private donors.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Program planning and performance:
Cooperate with stakeholders and partners to develop and implement a comprehensive national malaria control strategy. Assure that the strategy aligns with the World Health Organization’s (WHO) guidelines, national policies, and international best practices. Capacity building and training:
Vector control:
Plan and blend vector control activities such as indoor residual spraying (IRS), distribution of insecticide-treated nets (ITNs), and larval source administration.
Case administration:
Keep the implementation of effective case management practices, including prompt diagnosis, appropriate treatment, and follow-up care for malaria patients.
Encourage the rational use of antimalarial drugs and monitor drug resistance patterns.Health promotion and community engagement:
Resource rally and management:
Determine funding opportunities and collaborate with partners to secure resources for malaria control activities.
Manage budgets, track expenses, and ensure that resources are used efficiently and transparently.
Research and invention:
Remain updated on the latest research and growths in malaria control and incorporate new strategies and technologies into the national program.
Reporting and documentation:
Train regular progress reports for stakeholders and grant agencies to demonstrate the impact of malaria control activities.
Document best practices, lessons learned, and win stories to share with other malaria control programs and improve overall program persuasion.

QUALIFICATIONS
An Advance University degree in one of the following fields is needed: general health, paediatric health, family health, health research, global/international health, health policy and/or management, epidemiology, or another appropriate technical field. Public Health or Postgraduate study in Clinical or Community Health
• A minimum of 8 or more years of appropriate professional experience in management, coordination and technical expertise, preferably with a track record of thriving Infectious disease program management.
• Background in health program/project development in UN system agency or organization is an asset.
• Background working in the region is an asset.
• Diplomacy, conflict administration, flexibility, understanding of local cultural and social practices are key success factors for this consultancy.
• Outstanding oral and written communication skills and report writing.
