The International Rescue Committee (IRC) reacts to the biggest humanitarian crises in the globe and assists those whose lives and means of subsistence are destroyed by conflict and natural disasters in surviving, recovering, and taking back control of their life. The International Rescue Committee (IRC) was established in 1933 at Albert Einstein’s request. It assists persons who are displaced due to war, conflict, and disaster as well as the host communities that provide for them. We strive to enhance results in the areas of health, safety, economic welfare, education, and electricity now in over 40 nations and 22 U.S. cities.

IRC responds to immediate and long-term needs in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region (Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Syria, and Yemen) with integrated programs that enhance health and safety, place a priority on children’s education, promote economic well-being, and enable communities to reclaim control over their lives.

As the regional director for Gender Equality Diversity and Inclusion (GEDI), you will oversee transformative initiatives, inspire change throughout the area, and challenge accepted norms while fostering bottom-up learning and impact. By contextualizing IRC’s global GEDI action plan and bringing it into line with IRC’s feminist ideals, you will develop and implement a regional GEDI strategy and action plan in collaboration with nations. Responsibilities of the NGO Jobs-Gender Equality Diversity and Inclusion, Regional Director, MENA

Regional Strategy and Action Plan

  • Develop and drive the implementation of the regional GEDI Action Plan in collaboration with regional and country-leadership and functional partner this include:
    • Identify representation and gender equality and inclusion gaps for the region and develop timely goals and initiatives to address them.
    • Identify Country and regional programmatic direction to strengthen transformative programming and client responsiveness from a GEDI perspective.
    • Developing and implementing a monitoring and evaluation/accountability framework to measure progress against targets set out in the regional action plan.
    • Developing and managing the regional GEDI Action Plan budget, drawing on global, regional and GEDI funds.

Staff Engagement and support to employee groups

  • Mobilize and resource Employee Groups and community of practice as agents of change in the cultural transformation required for an inclusive, enabling work environment.
  • Engage with peers to coordinate and share learning across the 6 Regional GEDI Working Groups.

Technical support and guidance to leadership

  • Provide thought leadership and providing direction on GEDI matters providing technical knowledge and expertise, to monitor new practices, and document progress.
  • Advise on GEDI integration into country-level strategy frameworks
  • Work with Technical Adviser to ensure GEDI Integration into program development opportunities and implementation using IRC program quality frameworks.
  • Lead GEDI analyses where and when needed to feed into improved outcome for women and girls and marginalized communities, .
  • Work Human Resource, Safety and Security, Safeguarding partners to address context-specific GEDI gaps and challenges.

Education:

  • Graduate degree or extra years of professional experience

Experience:

  • direct experience motivating and persuading partners inside the organization to embrace and adopt gender equality, diversity, and inclusion practices as central to all initiatives and programs.
