The World Food Program (WFP) is the top humanitarian agency that provides food aid in dire situations and collaborates with locals to boost nutrition and resilience. The United Nations created it in 1961 to aid in reducing global hunger. 80 nations are home to WFP offices, which have its main headquarters in Rome. The biggest humanitarian organization in the world, it is also the main supplier of school meals. In order to promote nutrition initiatives, policies, and programs, such as school meals and food fortification, WFP collaborates with governments, other UN agencies, NGOs, and the corporate sector.

TASKS

The duties for Security Information Analyst at WFP are :

  • Oversee the designation of business requirements and coordinate security information analysis, considering the specific security situation in Western Africa, to influence solid planning and sound decision-making at a strategic level.
  • Observe security incidents, daily situation reports, local media, and other open sources specific to Western Africa to enable complete and reliable security information analysis.
  • Conduct and/or correspond comprehensive research on security threats and risks in Western Africa, determining the relevance, validity, and reliability of sources. Ensure that security information analysis is readily available to help decision-making in the region.
  • Assess and address complex security information requirements by applying agreed approaches and methods in security information analysis consistent with WFP and wider UN security information administration policies, guidelines, and procedures, considering the unique challenges and risks in Western Africa.
  • Perform and/or coordinate research on specific threat factors in Western Africa, providing solid suggestions to support security risk management and crisis management and ensure an effective response to specific security incidents.
  • Study and/or provide analytical security updates, security analysis reports, statistics, and trends analysis distinctive to Western Africa. Contribute to other security reports that enhance stakeholder understanding and decision-making in the region.
  • Develop security information administration strategies, policies, guidelines, and security operating procedures specific to Western Africa, ensuring alignment with overall organizational security reporting requirements. Provide compatible security advisories and recommendations to improve security analysis and reporting practices.
  • Provide extensive conflict analysis assessing security implications on WFP personnel, assets, and operations in Western Africa. Influence WFP’s access strategy, enhance conflict-sensitive, gender-sensitive, diversity-sensitive, and inclusive programming, and improve protection-related efforts in the region. Take active steps to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in all facets of security analysis and programming, ensuring it is a task embedded within the duties.

QUALIFICATIONS

The requirements for Security Information Analyst at WFP are :

  • Advanced University degree in Security Management, International Relations, Political Science, Social or Military Science, Conflict Analysis, Criminology, or Law or other appropriate major, or First University degree with additional years of connected work experience and/or training/courses.
  • Eight (8) years or more of progressively responsible skilled regional and/or local security developments background in security analysis that impact upon organizational security and operational activities in the humanitarian sector
  • Proficiency (level C) in the English language.
  • Proficiency (level C) in French language.
