Tasks of UNEP job vacancy – Junior Climate Change Mitigation Consultant:

Perform desk research for project development
Provide inputs to Project Identification Form (PIF)/Programme Framework Document (PFD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Endorsement projects
Provide inputs for preparation and thorough study of the submission packages for the Global Environment Facility (GEF), including Project Identification Forms (PIFs) and CEO Endorsement requests for submission to the Concept Review Committee (CRC), Project Review Committee (PRC) and GEF Secretariat
Provide input for the preparation of the Project Preparation Grants (PPG) and organize documentation needed for project performance phase,
Observe assigned projects under implementation, iv) Collect and maintain relevant data, including for unit’s dashboard and any other relevant project management and monitoring systems.

Qualifications of UNEP job vacancy – Junior Climate Change Mitigation Consultant:

An advanced degree in environmental policy, international affairs, engineering, environmental sciences, economic or in close-related field is needed. “A first-level university degree in combination with two years of qualifying experience in the required area may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree”
Minimum of 2 years work background in research, project management or a relevant field is required. Good understanding of GEF project cycle and policies. It will be an asset to have experience with GEF projects and/or UNEP projects.
Minimum 3 months of background working on international environmental projects, focused on Climate Change Mitigation.
Background in working with national governments in developing countries will be an asset.
It will be an asset to have good understanding of Paris Agreement, Nationally Determined Contributions, sustainable urban development and transport, gender approach, as well as international development and environmental governance.

Languages

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this consultancy, fluency (both oral and written) in English is needed . Understanding of French, Hindi, Portuguese or Spanish is desirable.
