Basic Function of the Position – The incumbent of this position is responsible for providing telephone services to the entire mission. Operates the sole central telephone switchboard for the Chancery on rotational basis. S/he answers all incoming phone calls promptly, and routes them to the applicable office. Places long distance telephone calls for the entire mission personnel and VIP delegations and maintains a log of such calls for accounting purposes. Also provides secretarial and protocol services to the Executive office, duty officers and other senior officials of the mission during weekends, holidays and after working hours. The incumbent works in rotating shifts 24/7.

EXPERIENCE: Minimum two (2) years of experience in receiving and forwarding the telephone calls is required.

JOB KNOWLEDGE: The incumbent must have a through understanding of internal offices and the switchboard operations. Must have the knowledge of local telephone company (PTCL) and regulations regarding its telephone services offered. S/he must have the knowledge of customer support services and ethics over the phone so that it will help the person to facilitate the callers in an efficient way. The position holder must also possess thorough understanding of Nation Wide Dialing (NWD), International Standard Dialing (ISD) and access code for all cell phone companies.Education Requirements:
Completion of Secondary School Certificate (10 years of education) is required.

1). Although the salary is advertised in U.S. Dollars (USD), you will be paid in Pakistani Rupees (Rs). Continued U.S. dollar denomination of Locally Employed Staff compensation and monetized benefits is temporary and subject to renewal every six months.
2). Please note that the mentioned salary on the Vacancy announcement is the annual salary.
3). U.S. Mission Pakistan will not bear any travel expenses for testing, interviews, pre-employment clearances (if selected) or relocation for joining.

ADDITIONAL SELECTION CRITERIA:
1. Management may consider any of the following when determining successful candidacy: nepotism, conflicts of interest, budget, and residency status.
2. Current OR employees serving a probationary period are not eligible to apply. Current OR employees with an Overall Summary Rating of Needs Improvement or Unsatisfactory on their most recent Employee Performance Report (EPR) are not eligible to apply.
3. Current NOR employees hired on a Family Member Appointment (FMA) or a Personal Service Agreement (PSA) are not eligible to apply within the first 90 calendar days of their employment, unless they have a When Actually Employed (WAE) work schedule.
4. The candidate must be able to obtain and hold the local security certification.
5. Candidates who are EFMs, USEFMs, AEFMs, or MOHs must have at least one year remaining on their sponsor’s tour of duty to be considered eligible to apply for this position.
