Asia Community Development Organization (ACDO) is an Afghan non-governmental, non-political, and non-profit humanitarian organization established in 2014 and registered with the Government of Afghanistan under the supervision of Ministry of Economy (MoEc) with a mission to provide humanitarian and development assistance to the vulnerable, at-risk, and underserved people throughout the country.

ACDO responds to the needs of deprived and marginalized rural and urban communities by managing and utilizing the available scarce resources in a well-organized, efficient, effective, transparent, and dignified manner to enhance resilience, boost access to education, health services, and infrastructure, ensure food and livelihood security, and promote social protection and inclusion.

ACDO has an active presence in most parts of the country and intends to expand its operations to the remaining provinces, as to transform itself into a leading and developed organization that will deliver to and support large number of people who have been affected by the long-protracted and sudden on-set emergencies and regardless of the hardest circumstances that exist in Afghanistan, ACDO has managed to deliver humanitarian and development assistance in most part of country.

Job Description:

The aim of this project is to enable vulnerable and at-risk out-of-school children (OOSC) in emergency settlements/settings and host communities to access quality basic education in a safe and protective environment in Samangan Province. The Trainer will be responsible for the capacity building of CBE teachers and SMS members, education personnel, community member and field level staff. The role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly. The trainer will be supporting Provincial Coordinator on the project activities.

Job Description:

    • Conduct surveys and assessments in the communities and provide feedback and suggestions for the development of the education program.
    • Using the project teacher training package and approaches, build the professional skills of community teachers in subject knowledge, teaching methods and techniques for successful delivery of community-based education.
    • Conduct training need assessment, design, conduct training and post training follow-up.
    • Develop training work plans, training materials (training manuals & handouts).
    • Deliver high quality training workshops to CBE teachers, community mobilizers, education personnel and community members on education matters.
    • Undertake regular supervision visits and assess the impact of trainings on the learning and development of project beneficiaries.
  • Identify training gaps/needs, and or areas of improvements – document best practices and lessons learnt.
  • Generate comprehensive training report and update the training database.
  • Monitor and evaluate students’ learning achievements; assist in the administration of the student learning achievement tests.
  • Provide regular in-classroom support to teachers to support them in practicing the learning gained from the trainings, create a friendly learning environment for students and overall teaching quality improvement.
  • Work with community members in identifying non-formal education needs, assuring the community cooperation with the program and their participation in the School Shuras/ Reintegration Committees.
  • Conduct campaigns and trainings with close collaboration with Community Mobilizer for raising awareness about gender, especially for improvement of female education and their further participation in education.
  • Prepare and maintain the teacher supervision, class monitoring and teacher in-classroom support files; prepare the work plan in consultation with the team.
  • Distribute textbooks and other learning and classroom documentation materials in coordination with Community Mobilizer to the classes.
  • Establish and maintain productive work relationship and coordinate activities with the MoE provincial/district/hub school officials and staff of other education sector organizations.
  • Any other related task as assigned by Snr. Project Officer and/or Senior Management Team (SMT).

Job Requirements:

Qualifications& Requirement

  • University graduate, Priority will be given to relevant degree holder.
  • Bachelor degree holder with 4 years of relevant experience
  • Experience in the relevant or similar position in humanitarian projects is required.
  • The applicant must reside in the same district as the one they are applying for.

Skills:

    • Strong oral and written communication skills in Pashto and Dari, English skills will be an asset.
    • Knowledge of the community structure, dynamics and development.
    • At least 3 years of experience in community mobilization, particularly for community participation, conflict resolution and resource mobilization.
    • Knowledge of the value of education in Holy Islam, child development and the current trends of education in Afghanistan.
    • Ability to cope well under pressure, work irregular hours and meet tight deadlines.
    • Sound organizational skills and ability to prioritize and deliver assignments in a timely manner often under severe time pressures.
  • Experience in needs assessment, project monitoring & evaluation, and program development
  • Good knowledge and experience in Afghanistan education system/context, CBE, Education in Emergencies (EiE), and child protection (CP)
  • Experience of coordination with government authorities, communities, donors and beneficiaries.

Language skills:

  • Fluent oral and written skills in Pashto and Dari, fluent in English is plus point
