Overview of position

Under the overall supervision of the Medical Supply Chain Officer and the direct supervision of the Senior Programme Associate (Pharmacy), the successful candidate will manage all aspects of pharmacy and medical supplies at the regional / Provincial level.

Role objectives

Core Functions / Responsibilities: 

 

·Assist in analyzing demands, preparing forecasts, calculating replenishment orders and initiating timely procurement requests accordingly. Take timely measures to avoid stock-out and expiry of medicines and supplies.

·Ensure, in coordination with the Senior Programme Associate (Pharmacy), that all pharmaceutical deliveries and dispatches are effectively recorded in the tracking system.

·Take precautionary measures to prevent receiving expired medications and manage medicines close to expiration according to the guidelines/SOPs.

·Ensure Verify receipt and dispatch of medicine is done according to guidelines/SOPs.

·Keep all the warehouse records/documents and inventory accurate and up to date and conduct a monthly inventory of the warehouse.

·Ensure that facilitate timely reporting on stock status.

·Ensure that the warehouse medical commodities and cold chain items are stored under proper storage conditions.

·Assist in monitoring and following up the Rational Use of Medicine at the regional warehouses and health facilities across IOM-supported provinces.

·Assist in ensuring maintaining Quality Assurance in medicinal and supply management.

·Participate in field missions out of duty station when/where required

·Perform such other duties that may be assigned by the Supervisor.

Required Qualifications and Experience

Education

  • University degree in Pharmacy from an accredited academic institution with 1 year of relevant experience.

Or

 

  • High School diploma with three (3) years of relevant professional experience.

 

Experience

  • Experience in multiple pharmacy practice settings or medical warehouses with international organizations, NGOS or pharmaceutical companies.
  • Experience in inventory management
  • Experience with the use of stock management software or system is an advantage
  • Experience in medical commodities forecasting and quantification is an advantage
  • Experience with an NGO or the UN will be an asset.

 

Skills:

 

  • Computer skills in using Microsoft office (Word, Excel & PowerPoint)
  • Ability to pay close attention to details while prioritizing work efficiently and operate with minimal supervision.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively and harmoniously within a team.

Languages:

  • For this position, fluency in English is required (oral and written).
  • Working knowledge of Pashto or Dari is required.
  • Fluency in all national language(s) are highly advantages.
