Share via:

The Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) is a regional organization of the United Nations that was established in 1958 to promote economic and social development in Africa. Headquartered in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, the ECA works to support the economic and social transformation of the African continent through research, policy analysis, and advocacy. The organization works closely with member states and regional economic communities to identify key development challenges and opportunities, and to develop strategies and policies to address them. Some of the key areas of focus for the ECA include promoting sustainable economic growth, supporting trade and investment, promoting gender equality, and addressing climate change and other environmental challenges. The ECA is also actively involved in promoting regional integration and cooperation, and in supporting the implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
