JOB CONTEXT:
Since January 2024, HI has been responding to Sudan’s crisis. HI’s joint multisectorial response in Gedaref State, implemented with a Sudanese partner NGO, is already providing physical and functional rehabilitation services in healthcare centers and at community level, as well as MHPSS services, including individual and group counselling. HI is further engaged at the humanitarian coordination level to mainstream disability inclusion throughout the humanitarian response.
HI plans to scale up its response from both geographic and modalities/sectorial perspectives. In particular, HI is deploying emergency response teams in Darfur, to setup its operations and initiate its response in the western parts of Sudan. The advertised vacancy is to be part of that team.
YOUR MISSION:
Reporting to the regional logistics manager/Area manager, you, as area logistics manager, you ensure the efficient management of logistics resources for the area of intervention under your responsibility.
You are the point person for the regional logistics manager / Area manager and as such informs him or her of any problems that fall within your remit and suggests solutions.
You are a key player in the rollout and implementation of HI’s logistics standards, which consists in reworking the positioning of logistics at HI and affirming the principle of professional development.
Your main responsibilities are:
Mission 1 : Management
Mission 2 : Defines the Logistics section of the StratOp and directs its action plan
Mission 3 : Deploys HI’s standards and contributes to its expertise and accountability within his or her remit:
Mission 4 : Operational implementation of logistics
– Diagnostic phase – Contextual analysis:
– Design phase – Resources planning:
– Launch phase – Procurement planning
Mission 5 : Facilitates the Logistics profession’s development on his or her programme and contributes towards the development of the Logistics profession across the organisation
Mission 6 : Emergency Preparedness and Response Responsibilities
Leads the emergency preparedness actions in his/her department and, in case of emergency, reorganizes the priorities of his/her team according to the humanitarian imperative, in order to ensure HI’s quick and efficient response.
Requirements
You hold a degree in logistic or supply chain, with training in logistics management and development of humanitarian projects/operations, or equivalent.
You have proven experience in at least 3 years of the following sectors: procurement / supplies, management / rehabilitation of premises, fleet management, and/or information and communication systems.
With a high capacity for analysis and synthesis, you have proven training and local capacity building experience.
You are able to project quickly in an emergency context, manage your stress, and work under pressure.
You are able to handle conflicts, you have strong interpersonal and intercultural skills, with good communication and negotiation skills in English and French.

2 months International contract starting from mid-October 2024 based in Geneina in Sudan;

Salary from 2750€ gross/month upon experience;
Perdiem: around 500 € net/month – paid in the field
