Research Investigator (Internal#232/2024)

icddr,b is a Bangladesh-based international health research institute that strives to solve key public health problems through high-quality scientific research and innovation. icddrb as a value-based organization encourages women and people with disabilities.

The initiative for Climate Change, Health and Population Science focuses on addressing health risks related to climate change and increasing the resilience of vulnerable communities to climate-related risks by designing and testing adaptation models.

Duties and responsibilities

The Research Investigator will report to the Scientist and will be responsible for planning, organizing, implementing, coordinating, and analyzing quantitative and qualitative research to attain study objectives within the guidelines of the research protocol and organizational values. The specific areas of responsibilities include:

  • Create detailed project plans with clear timelines, milestones, and deliverables to guide research activities;
  • Oversee project implementation, ensuring adherence to the project plan;
  • Coordinate with national and international scientists, the Government of Bangladesh (GoB), and NGOs for effective project execution and knowledge sharing;
  • Identify new funding opportunities, develop innovative research ideas, and draft research protocols;
  • Design comprehensive data generation, management, and analysis plans to ensure scientific rigor and data quality;
  • Prepare scientific reports, write manuscripts, and submit them to peer-reviewed journals;
  • Disseminate study findings to stakeholders, including scientists, policymakers, and the public;
  • Create targeted research communication materials to ensure findings are accessible and relevant;
  • Provide training on research methods, project design, and field procedures;
  • Facilitate workshops on data coding, analysis, and tool development;
  • Mentor team members, enhancing their skills in both qualitative and quantitative research techniques.

Required qualification and experience:

  • MBBS/Masters Social Science/Science
  • 3-5 years of working experience in relevant field..

Location: Dhaka

Contract Type and duration:

  • CSA basis for 03 months with a possibility of extension subject to availability of fund and performance.

Salary & benefits:

  • Tk/-1,27,664 per month (consolidated) inclusive of house rent and conveyance allowances;
  • Festival bonus, income tax paid by icddr,b and subsidized canteen; Transport and daycare facilities are subject to space availability.
