IRC UK is part of the IRC global network, which has its global headquarters in New York. Our team in the UK works to raise profile, deliver policy and practice change, and increase funding to help restore health, safety, education, economic wellbeing and power to people devastated by conflict and disaster. The IRC UK has been delivering Resettlement, Asylum and Integration (RAI) programme in the UK since 2021, working in partnership with local councils and other organisations, to provide integration support to refugees, asylum seekers and other vulnerable migrants in the UK.

The Purpose of the Role
The MEL and Programmes Intern will provide support to both the Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) function and the Programmes team. This internship offers an opportunity for an individual with lived experience of displacement or from an underrepresented group to gain experience in the UK charity sector. The intern will gain hands-on experience in data management, programme support, and client service delivery within the refugee resettlement and integration sector. The intern will be supervised by the MEL Officer, with guidance from the Programmes Officer, and will develop practical skills while contributing to the smooth operation of key projects.
Key Working Relationships:
The position reports to the MEL Officer with additional guidance from the Programmes Officer. The position works closely with other UK RAI programmes staff.
Key Accountabilities
Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) Support
- Assist with the maintenance of the RAI UK Customer Relationship Management (CRM) database system , including data entry and review
- Help with the monitoring of project key performance indicators on a periodic basis in close coordination with the project team
- Support data collection as outlined in the MEL Plan, including acting as an enumerator for client surveys and leading focus group discussions where needed
- Support the provision of MEL technical support to staff members, including basic CRM technical support and troubleshooting and preparing simple data reports
- Help prepare and distribute surveys, including coordinating translations and sending reminders/follow-up to survey participants where needed.
- Maintain MEL-related files, templates, and guidance documents and assist with general administrative tasks of MEL activities.
Programmes Support
- Help coordinate orders of programme materials (e.g. Healing Classrooms/Spaces handbooks, SIM cards, laptops, client vouchers)
- Support development and distribution of programme resources such as flyers,handbooks ,certificates and ESOL audio and video materials
- Draft and circulate meeting minutes.
- Support the creation and distribution of newsletters and other programme communications
- Assist with clients and Community Advisory Group members payment liaising with supply chain and client, and processing reimbursements with finance team.
- Provide ad hoc programme support and problem-solving.

Through this internship, the intern will gain:

- Insight into the functioning of a humanitarian/refugee integration organisation.

- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines and to quickly learn information systems
- Basic IT skills and knowledge(Microsoft Office, email).
- Interest in data management, monitoring, and programme support.
- Ability to speak and write in English.
- Ability to work flexibly both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Commitment to confidentiality and safeguarding standards.
- Previous voluntary, work or academic experience related to refugees, migration, or social programmes.
The salary for the role is £29,783.74
