Requirements

Education
  • Diploma
  • Three years “Diploma In Laboratory Technology” from any government recognized institute.
Additional Requirements

Experience

  • Minimum 2-year working experience as Laboratory Technician in NGO or Any other Health care Facility(Essential)

Knowledge

  • Essential computer literacy (word, excel and Internet).

Language

  • English and Bangla language essential.

Responsibilities & Context

According to medical prescription, preparing and performing Laboratory exams/tests with appropriate techniques by following MSF Protocols and procedures. This function includes, among others:-

  • Taking blood, vaginal and urethral samples.
  • Centrifuging blood and urine samples.
  • Performing laboratory exams (serology, hematology, biochemistry, bacteriology or parasitological, according to context of the mission).
  • Ensuring proper reporting and registration of the sample results in order to keep a written track of activity and give information to the relevant persons, ensuring confidentiality.
  • Taking care, manage and organize efficiently the laboratory material/equipment.
  • Perform cleaning and minor maintenance for biomedical equipment used. Following the user manual and protocols and alert supervisor in case of malfunctioning.
  • Applying hygiene and safety protocols, doing daily cleaning /maintenance, sterilization, washing general glassware after procedures are done.
  • Ensuring proper sample waste disposal according to MSF protocols and highest safety standards.
  • Supplying orders, do stock, storage conditions follow-up, keep inventory.
  • Keeping organized the data collection system of laboratory results and all information generated from the analysis done.
  • Reporting all relevant information linked to the activity in the laboratory to the line manager, especially the loss/robbery/damage of laboratory equipment or medicines.
  • Performing minor maintenance and cleaning of the biomedical equipment following user manual and protocols. Alerting the supervisor in case of malfunctioning of any device and List item.

Context Specific Accountabilities

  • Ensuring sample collection and shipment to other laboratories as requested by Laboratory Supervisor, taking into account necessary measures as cold chain, etc.
  • Ensure blood transfusion activities strictly follows outlined protocol and MSF-OCA guidelines (blood donors’ criteria, testing procedures, pre-donation questionaries’ inclusion/exclusion criteria, Blood transfusion and storage SOP).
  • Ensure a thorough documentation of clinical results, laboratory findings and donations and keeping the records confidential.
  • Responsible for performing all activities in a manner that demonstrates medical ethics and confidentiality of patients.
  • Assists in other health care activities and emergency response activities in and outside the projects as requested.
    • CSF study (cytology, biochemistry and gram stain).
    • Good knowledge on laboratory waste management.
    • Ensure sputum sample collection, slide preparation and staining.
    • Ensure all the biomedical devices regular proper maintenance.
    • Blood culture samples collection, sample preparation and gram stain.

Compensation & Other Benefits

Contract and Benefit

Permanent Contract. Salary according to level 05 (five) of the internal MSF salary grid (BDT 56000 Gross). Salary is not negotiable. Income tax deduction from salary based on current income tax rule. 2 annual leave days per month worked. Medical insurance for employee and direct dependents based on Health Care Policy- Locally Recruited Staff.

Others

There is no provisions for relocation. 2 Festival Bonuses after completion of one year of uninterrupted continuous service.
