Responsibilities & Context
MSF Section/Context Specific Accountabilities:
Staff Health (70%)
- Focal point regarding national staff health at the mission/coordination level. Link with staff health focal points (SHFP) in the field.
- In coordination with HR Departments and SHFP, ensure the information sessions on staff health (Health policy, preventive measures, etc.) are organized and that the staff has access to the correct updated information.
- Participate in induction program of all newly recruited staffs (LRS, CBTM) on the health policy, Sick leave procedures etc. Organize refresher briefing on a regular basis for LRS & CBTM.
- Ensure effective dissemination together with HR and Field focal points of the new versions of the health policy.
- Ensure follow-up of quota per person per year with the Finance Department. Provide updates on personal quota to the beneficiaries of the Staff Health Policy so that they are aware and accountable.· Collect, control, and approve medical bills for the whole mission. Validate medical bill reimbursements prior to final submission to Medco and Finance department.
- During long sick leaves, is in contact with patient or caregiver and collect relevant medical reports, certificate, lab and imaging reports and monitor the progress of the patient.
- Collect the appropriate document and accurate and reliable data on illnesses, accidents and absenteeism with a view to providing statistics on illnesses and the associated risks taken by all MSF staffs & formulating a plan on preventive measures to be taken.

- Ensure people with specific health conditions are well informed and safe about access to available healthcare services and the level of risk taken when accepting a job/position.
- Monitor that all staff is offered vaccination for ensuring vaccination (Hepatitis B, Td, Covid) and collect data on vaccinations (LRS, CBTM)·
- Organize trainings on first aid & Accidental exposure to blood and body fluids for medical staff while ensuring the proper implementation of AEB Protocol.
- Archive in coordination: Work related accident files (including AEB files), medical bills.
- Focal point for expat outpatient referrals as per intersectional policy in BD. Responsible for linking, contacting, and organizing appointments and follow-ups in Cox’s and Dhaka (with IST support).
- Listen to staff feedback and provide explanations and redirections when needed.
- Follow-up on staff vaccination (COVID-19, HBV) and coordinate with focal points in the field during implementation and follow-up (turnover/update list/campaigns).
- Organize mandatory eye test for all MSF drivers on yearly basis, collect the information on quality of vision and give recommendation to Medco, accordingly.
- Work in close collaboration with the Staff Psychologist in collaboration with the medical coordinator.
- Active involvement in the assessment & identification of validated hospitals for LRS & their dependents in collaboration with Deputy MedCo.
- Perform regular visits to MSF-validated hospitals to guarantee the quality and harmonization of Staff health services across the mission.
- Implement a system of accessible and reliable pre-departure checks for detachment staff and support the medical evaluation vaccination before detachment.
- Maintain regular contact with staff health responsible of other OCs, in order to harmonize health care approach and policy among all OC’s in Bangladesh mission.
- Participate in the yearly review and implementation of the health care policy for LRS & CBTM, after discussion with the Medical coordinator.
- Support in the management of specific cases with direct technical medical inputs or with advice from medical department in HQ, telemedicine, and coordination·
- Support the collection, monitoring, analysis and reporting of all activities related to staff health along with ensuring relevant project visits.
- Active participation in forecasting annual budget on staff health, exploration and explanation of deviation in collaboration with the Medical Coordinator.
- If required, monitor staff admissions and progress in health facilities.· Assist the Medical Coordinator during medical evacuations, if required.Surveillance and data analysis (10%)·
- With the MedCo, coordinate and link with the IST Medical Focal Point to follow-up on the intersectional medical updates at Dhaka level, compile and share with medical coordination.
- In coordination with the MedCo, collaborate with other stakeholders as required.
- Monitor health needs at country level and share findings.
- Collect, summarize and comment health information and data when required,
- Attend Health Sector and Nutrition Sector meetings, in the absence of MedCo.
- In collaboration with mission Epi Manager, monitors and follow-up on Cox’s indicators, specifically HERAMS and 4W.Pharmacy·
- In collaboration the Mission Pharmacy Manager, replenish the coordination office medical cupboard once a month and quarterly refills of pre- expiry stock of the office and apartments first aid kit (in coordination and monitor the Expat/office pharmacy in Ukhiya).Support to medical activities: (20%)·
- May be assigned as the coordination focal point to support for specific project-based activities (patient centered approach, SGBV, etc.).
- Might be assigned to other additional tasks not related to staff health on request of the Medical Coordinator
