Responsibilities
Within delegated authority, the Human Rights Officer will be responsible for the following duties: – Plans and coordinates activities related to thematic and country mandates on human rights, including from a gender perspective. – Conducts monitoring activities, substantive research, and analysis of human rights issues/events and assesses their impact on the human rights situation in. Cambodia. – Prepares analytical reports on the human rights situation, including in relation to the administration of justice and economic and social rights, including proposed actions. – Collects and analyses human rights data and indicators in Cambodia, including gender-specific data and indicators. – Ensures human rights issues, including their gender equality dimensions’ considerations, integrates into political, humanitarian, and economic efforts and programs. – Defines work plan for area assigned in accordance with established terms of reference. – Conducts field verification work through periodic visits; follow up on different cases and situations verified by the regional offices.Required Qualifications of UN jobs Asia-Human Rights Officer
Education: Master’s degree or equivalent in law, politics, international relations, the social sciences, or a closely related discipline from an advanced university. The advanced university degree may substitutes with a first-level university degree and two more years of relevant experience. Experience:- A minimum of five years of steadily increasing responsibility in human rights, politics, international relations, law, or a similar field are necessary.
- At least two of the five years should have been spent working for the UN or another comparable international body.
- Experience in human rights monitoring and reporting is desirable.
- Experience in legal analysis drafting is desirable.
