The People’s Health Institute has provided valuable services in various sectors of health, nutrition, community development and research in Paktika, Parwan, Faryab, Paktia, Logar, Nangarhar, Laghman and Kunar provinces. Currently, this institute, in cooperation with the Ministry of Public Health, is providing health services to the honorable people of Logar, Nangarhar, Laghman and Kunar provinces. Job Description:

Objective:

Expanding access to services in remote areas deprived of health and nutrition services

Major Responsibilities:

  • Accepting pregnant women for the purpose of providing health services.
  • Monitoring the health status of pregnant women during pregnancy, after birth, and providing family planning services.
  • Collaborating with pregnant women during their delivery and resuscitating the newborn if necessary.
  • Fill out the book, search the standard sheet and prepare a report on the activities.
  • Escalating problematic incidents to higher levels
  • Improving the level of scientific and professional knowledge and skills.
  • Implementing quality assurance standards and other initiatives to improve the quality of health services

Functional Anatomy:

Before the examination:

  • Sterilization of all relevant medical equipment.
  • Managing the flow of patients (giving priority to critically ill patients…).
  • Providing health education to clients.

Prenatal checkups:

  • Obtaining an accurate and complete history of health and pregnancy status.
  • Physical examination and pelvic examination (general examination, abdominal examination, vaginal examination if necessary).
  • Checking the tetanus vaccine card.
  • Identification of pregnant patients at risk.
  • Prescribe preventive treatment based on accepted protocols.
  • Respecting professional competence in prescribing treatment.
  • Set a date for the next meeting and explain the importance of the issue.
  • Providing health education based on the woman’s health status (in cases of childbirth, postnatal check-ups, nutrition, vaccines, and pregnancy risks)
  • Talking to the woman about the birth (where, by whom, what kind, with what equipment?).
  • Filling out the registration book and health card at home.

Postnatal check-ups:

  • Obtaining accurate information about birth.
  • Performing additional examinations to diagnose any problems.
  • Refer to a gynecologist if necessary.
  • Family guidance consultations (spacing births).
  • Obtaining a thorough history.
  • A thorough examination is performed to determine if any contraindications are present.
  • The husband’s permission must be sought.
  • The woman should be consulted about different ways to space births.
  • Full information should be provided about the prescribed method.
  • The tracking card and house registration book must be filled out.
  • The date of the next meeting should be stated and the importance of the matter should be noted.

After the examination :

  • The examination table and equipment should be cleaned.
  • The speculum should be washed and brushed and given to the responsible person for sterilization.
  • Organize used cards and folders.
  • Improving the level of scientific and professional knowledge and skills

In addition:

  • Participating in improving educational seminars (providing suggestions and determining some topics)
  • Implement materials including protocols and seminars in the course of work.
  • Regularly measure the growth of children over 5 years of age to detect malnutrition.
  • Competent and active participation in relevant education and training.
  • Collaboration and assistance with community health workers or female CHWs
  • Participation in the Women’s Health Council at the Health and Nutrition Sub-Center level
  • Perform all other duties requested by the senior officials of the Health and Nutrition Sub-Health Center.

Other tasks:

  • Active participation in the activities of the Health and Nutrition Sub-Health Center
  • Ensure that registration and information are done correctly in accordance with Ministry of Public Health guidelines and accepted standards.
  • Ensuring that services are free and provided to eligible people without discrimination based on need.
  • Must have the ability to work in a team and be able to speak the local languages ​​of Dari and Pashto clearly.
  • Must have the ability and coordination with the health and nutrition sub-health center personnel.
  • Good communication and understanding with people in the villages and parents of children to whom services are provided.
  • Convey protective messages so that no harm comes to beneficiaries
  • Work closely with the owner, nutrition consultant, vaccinator, other team leaders, and program manager to ensure high quality work.
  • Satisfying the people and officials when they have questions from the people
  • Coordination with health center officials and other colleagues, especially those responsible for data collection and facilitation.
  • Ensuring that equipment is collected at the end of the day and arranged according to standards and guidelines.

Ensuring that there are sufficient supplies and medicines in the area of ​​operation.

Job Requirements:

  • Having Afghan citizenship
  • Having a midwifery diploma approved by the Ministry of Public Health or a community midwifery graduate
  • Having at least three years of work experience in the midwifery sector
  • Experience working with government health facilities or non-governmental health organizations (NGOs) is preferred.
  • Preference will be given to local candidates.
  • Having moral qualities (patience, compassion, caution, etc.).
  • Observing all Islamic standards.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Have good Islamic and human qualities.

Advisory and supervisory authorities :

  • Health center manager
  • Employees of the relevant institution

Prohibitions :

  • Expressing opinions or representing OPHA without the prior consent of the responsible person.
  • Using OPHA property or assets for personal purposes.
  • Other prohibitions are fully specified in the internal employee regulations, taking into account its disciplinary criteria.
