Title:                Grants and Awards Manager

Direct reports:  Grants and Awards Coordinator

Contract duration : 12 months, with possibility of extension

The Grants Manager promotes efficient management of RI Yemen’s funds in conjunction with other departments and aids in ensuring compliance with donor standards at all phases of the project lifecycle (e.g., Programs, Technical Units, Finance, and Operations). This includes, but is not limited to, managing proposal preparation procedures, guaranteeing timely and accurate reporting to donors, enabling grant opening and closeout processes, providing advice on donor laws and regulations, and strengthening staff capacity.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • In addition to aggressively promoting improved knowledge of important compliance concerns within the organization, advise program teams, support departments, and implementing partners on donor laws and regulations as well as RI’s internal needs.
  • Remind the program teams of forthcoming deadlines, review and revise reports in accordance with donor specifications and RI writing guidelines, and make sure that high-quality narrative reports are submitted to funders.
  • Ad hoc requests from the authorities, such as gathering yearly or project end reports and coordinating access to implementation sites to guarantee adherence to donor requirements and proposals, require the Area Management Team to provide support.
  • To create a shared understanding of the programming, operational, and financial aspects of a new grant as well as awareness of our contractual requirements, organize grant opening meetings with the participation of the program and support departments.
  •  Organize grant close out meetings to facilitate a timely closeout of a grant, support full expenditure of the budget, and ensure that all contractual obligations will be met (e.g., final report, asset disposal).
  • Participate in the monthly BvA review meetings with all pertinent departments to discuss the status of programmatic and financial targets, review the spend down plans, promote group problem-solving to prevent delays in program implementation, enable early identification of modification requests, and offer compliance advice.
  • In accordance with donor requirements, coordinate the creation of modification requests for donors, such as requests for budget realignment, proposal revision, and other adjustments.
  • directing donor communications for strategic grants to enable timely sharing of contextual, access, and/or emergency updates as well as timely raising of implementation and contractual concerns to reach agreement on next steps.
  • Communicate with the Middle East regional team regarding all aspects of grant management, including the monthly Awards Matrix submission, the review of grant agreements, the acquisition of grant codes, the request for waivers and derogations, etc.

NGO Jobs in Yemen-Grants and Awards Manager Requirments

Education:

  • either a bachelor’s degree with relevant job experience or a master’s degree in that discipline

Experience:

  • Experience managing funds and creating proposals for overseas relief or development programs spanning three to five years, including practical experience.

Languages:

  • Strong native-level writing abilities in English, along with a track record of producing reports and proposals on time.
