  • Experience: At least 3 years’ experience in the field of education programs with NGO
  • Practical working experience at Rohingya Camp in the field of education
  • Experience in education, protection / social work with children
  • Having a valid motorcycle driving license
  • Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of Education and child protection
  • Must have knowledge of the INEE minimum standards.
  • Understanding the dynamic of child education and curriculum in the Rohingya context
  • Skills: Oral and written communication skills both in Bangla and English, Rohingya, and/or Chittagong local language
  • Should have good computer technical skills, especially in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience in curriculum/module development and training delivery is desirable.
  • Interpersonal communication and public speaking skills
  • Abilities : Ability to work under pressure & meet deadlines
  • Should be self-driven and positive to work in a team
  • Problem solving skills and dealing with the client

Responsibilities & Context

Samaj Kalyan O Unnayan Shangstha (SKUS) envisions a peaceful, prosperous, and poverty-free society that ensures everyone’s basic needs and rights. SKUS since the 2017 Rohingya refugee influx, SKUS has worked in Cox’s Bazar district with children, adolescents, women, and men. SKUS works to provide access to learning opportunities in a safe and protective environment, offer quality teaching and learning, and increase refugee/host community participation and engagement in children’s education. Based on children’s and adolescents’ rights, SKUS has established a quality learning and protection center with support from different international donors, including UN agencies. SKUS has been implementing a project named Integrated ECD Services and Formal Education (Myanmar Curriculum) for Rohingya Children Aged 3-18 Years with the support of UNICEF. SKUS is looking for a suitable candidate for the immediate appointment of an EdTech for the project mentioned above, supported by UNICEF.

Reportable to: Program Manager Duration of contract: up to August 31, 2024. (Contingent on Donor Extension and government approval.) Job Location: Ukhiya Cox’s Bazar’

  • The aim of the EdTech Officer is to improve access to quality education through the use of technology and connectivity, alongside teacher training and capacity-building support.
  • This position reports to the project program Manager and will be responsible for the overall management of EdTech education programs within the refugee camps.
  • The EdTech Officer will work closely with the Field Officer, Gender Officer, Disabilities Officer, Teaching Learning Officer, and Information Management Officer (IMO) to coordinate implementation within learning facilities in the camp and ensure alignment of activities with SKUS policies and donor compliance.
  • He/she will be responsible for providing technical support for the running of the EdTech project and overall supervision of curriculum implementation in camps.
  • The EdTech Officer is directly reportable to the Program Manager of the project.
  • Lead on designing, implementing, and monitoring of the EdTech activities according to the set objective.
  • Supervise the Field Assistant and ensure that the project objectives are adhered to and implemented.
  • Coordinate activities with other program Managers, UNICEF, officers, Learning Facilities Teachers and to ensure that the program implementation aligns with program guidelines and procedures.
  • Prepare status, donor, and implementation reports for the project activities and collect success stories to include on the annual/quarterly/interim reports.
  • Work closely with the Logistics Assistant, Education Section, UNICEF, and SKUS operation team to ensure timely procurement and logistic arrangement for the program activities is done according to the SKUS policies.
  • Assess the program progress regularly and identify technical quality issues and/or other implementation issues, provide solutions, and implement modifications as required.
  • Identify and document any changes in project activities and share them with the Program Manager.
  • Conduct regular meetings with project staff, community members, government counterparts, and other implementing partners to share/assess progress toward project implementation, discuss issues, and assist in finding solutions to challenges identified.
  • Coordinate camp-based interagency education meetings with education agencies, Parent Support Group (PSG)) members, camp leadership, and other community members.
  • Work with the IMO to undertake assessments, data collection, and data analysis.
  • Represent the Program Manager, where necessary, in, donor meetings, Education Working Group meetings, and interagency activities and events.
  • Strengthen coordination among the education stakeholders implementing education projects in the refugee camps Compile learning from project implementation to inform the design of future programs.
  • Participate in PD development and preparation of other project documents as required by the supervisor.
  • Assess capacity-building needs with the education and technical team (teachers, trainers, and education officers and develop capacity-building plans in partnership with the Deputy Coordinator of Education.
  • Supervise and mentor direct-report staff, including communicating clear expectations, setting performance objectives, providing regular and timely performance feedback, and leading documented semi-annual performance reviews.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned by your supervisor.
