About Union Aid:
Union Aid (UA) was established by a group of Afghan philanthropists and social activists in July 1979 in Peshawar, Pakistan. Union Aid was serving Afghan Refugees and host communities living in/around refugee camps through various projects in three main sectors; health, education and skill development. UA has been providing basic health services through hospitals, Basic Health Units (BHUs), labor rooms, provision of prosthetic limbs and first aid trainings. UA facilitated Afghan Refugees in education sector through providing formal basic and higher education, skill development programs for men and women, literacy centers and scholarships.

Job Description:
Responsibilities at the health center:
- Adherence to the duty and compliance with established medical rules.
- Appropriate treatment and behavior with the clinic personnel and visitors, respect for the culture and traditions of the people and the printing press
- Do not register the GMP assessment, which includes weight, height, age and edema examination of all children under two years of age
- Conducting GMP-based counseling for mothers/caregivers of children under two years of age in the field of appropriate measures for child and maternal nutrition (MIYCN and infection prevention)
- If the child is normal, in order to strengthen and improve the proper feeding methods of snake mothers and children, they should be encouraged and advised
- If a child suffers from severe acute malnutrition, he should be referred to the health center doctor for proper treatment and advice.
- Advise mothers/caregivers to bring their children under two years of age to the health center for monthly GMP visits.
- The MUAC probe should be used to measure the middle circumference of the upper arm for children aged 6 to 59 months.
- Check whether the child has received vitamin E on NID (National Immunization Day) of the previous National Vaccination campaign days or not, if not, refer to the health center to receive vitamin E.
- Holding a supplementary food show once a month
- Providing and presenting healthy nutrition education and advertisements for clients, especially nursing mothers and children suffering from acute and severe malnutrition.
- Active participation in the adaptation of new quality improvement standards and effective and active cooperation with other members of the clinic
- Regular participation in staff meetings to develop and improve the program and solve problems at the health center level
- Implementation of tasks assigned by the clinic manager
Advising on maternal nutrition:
-
- Measurement of the middle part of upper arm MUAC, weight, height and determination of BMI or body mass index of lactating mothers and categorizing them as normal, underweight, overweight and obese, after the first PNC until the time the mother breastfeeds her baby.
- Based on the findings of BMI or body mass index, individual counseling on appropriate nutrition methods should be provided.
- Check whether nursing mothers have received IFA (Iron Folic Acid) tablets during the three months after giving birth.
At the community level:
- In the monthly meetings of community health workers, cooperate and coordinate with the community health supervisor and community health workers to:
- Sharing the list of GMP absentees with CHW for follow-up
- Ensure that GMP meeting is conducted by CHW regularly in the community.
- Guidance to CHWs on topics such as GMP, counseling skills and appropriate home visits
Registration and reporting:
- Have a regular report to monitor and follow up on the provision of nutrition services.
- Use of the child and mother health book in the provinces where this book is used.
Beneficiaries who require follow-up visits, identify pollen and share information with CHS/CHW.
