War Child flagship Afghanistan program advances social impact in the lives of vulnerable children, women and their families through its Justice, Education and Opportunity programs with child protection and gender across all its programs. The Afghanistan Country Program is currently undergoing an exciting expansion with newly secured long-term funding for programs in eight provinces Kabul, Kandahar, Nangarhar, Balkh, Kundoz, Takhar, Logar and Badakhshan, and will expand its program to other new provinces.
Job Description:
Position summary:
War Child is seeking a full-time driver to provide program support for its current project implementation. The position is based in Kabul city, with potential need for travel to some of the provinces and other future project sit.
Responsibilities
- Maintain office vehicle, including responsibility for ensuring it is equipped with all necessary supplies (e.g., tools, spare tire, First Aid kit)
- Regularly check vehicle for any needed services, including engine, oil, water, fuel, and tires. Report to any kind of damage or maintenance of vehicle to the supervisor.
- Take vehicle to authorized service supplier for regular service every 5,000 kilometers. Maintain service and repair log.
- Ensure vehicle logbook is complete with all details and on a daily basis.
- Check vehicle schedule for long trips prior to departure to ensure tire pressure, fuel, and other fluid levels.
- Able to work late timing morning or evening.
- Ensure familiarity of all major Kabul destinations (e.g., offices of NGOs, ministries, embassies, and restaurants) prior to staff member departure.
- Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Academic Background and Knowledge
- High school or Secondary school graduate.
- At least 3-5 years’ work experience with national or international NGOs,
Skills
- Current driver’s license.
- Able to communicate in English/Dari and Pushto.
- Minimum three years of work experience with national/international NGOs, or UN agencies.
- Completed security training for safe driving in urban and rural areas.
- Reliable, punctual, and good communication skills.
