Women Activities & Social Service Association (WASSA) was established in 2002 in Afghanistan as a non-governmental organization, committed to seeking ways for women’s empowerment in Afghanistan. WASSA aims to promote women’s equal participation in socio-economic sectors of the country. WASSA works directly with communities to bring change in the social attitude of the community regarding women.

Job Description:

Background

The project focuses on providing comprehensive protection services, psychosocial support, and community engagement to vulnerable groups, including children, boys, girls and women. Community Mobilizers play a pivotal role in strengthening the connection between project activities and community needs by fostering trust, raising awareness, and mobilizing local resources to support project objectives.

2. Scope of Work

The Community Mobilizer will be responsible for engaging communities, raising awareness about protection and psychosocial services, and supporting the implementation of project activities at the grassroots level. The role ensures that community members actively participate in and benefit from the project’s interventions.

3. Key Responsibilities

  1. Build strong relationships with community members and leaders to promote trust and collaboration.
  2. Facilitate community meetings to raise awareness about protection, Gender, and psychosocial services.
  3. Identify and support the formation of community-based protection committees and networks.
  4. Mobilize communities to participate in project activities, such as awareness sessions, training, and service utilization.
  5. Assist in the identification of vulnerable individuals and families for protection and psychosocial interventions.
  6. Coordinate with case management and psychosocial support teams to ensure timely referrals and follow-ups.
  7. Support the organization of training sessions, workshops, and community events.
  8. Conduct service mapping and update community resource directories.
  9. Collect and document data related to community needs, challenges, and feedback.
  10. Maintain accurate records of activities, including participant attendance and outcomes.
  11. Submit regular progress reports to the line manager.
  12. Coordinate effectively with government representatives, and provincial and district leaders.
  13. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of community groups ‘progress and make recommendations for improvements;
  14. Adhere to all WASSA administrative procedures and policies;
  15. Adhere to all WASS and security policies;
  16. Assist with general program operations and field-based activity;
  17. Conduct himself/herself both professionally and personally in such a manner as to bring credit to WASSA and to not jeopardize its humanitarian mission in Afghanistan.
  18. Other duties as assigned by line manager
