About NGO Jobs in Indonesia-Consultant for Landscape Monitoring Program

With an open and cooperative approach, the Landscape Monitoring Initiative seeks to enhance forest conservation and decrease of deforestation in North Kalimantan, Riau, and Aceh Province, Indonesia. With the potential for scale across jurisdictions, this will provide many benefits such as climate mitigation, forest protection, and sustainability of commodities supply chains.
The Landscape Monitoring Initiative creates a multi-stakeholder collaboration structure and a forest monitoring system with the help of local government organizations, supply chain participants, and civil society organizations. Compared to separate monitoring activities, this coordinated approach is designed to increase efficiency and optimize the potential for impact and scalability.

The Radar Alerts for Detecting Deforestation (RADD) system, a radar-based monitoring system created by Wageningen University and Satelligence and supported by the World Resources Institute, is used by the Landscape Monitoring Initiative (WRI). The cutting-edge device uses radar waves to pierce cloud cover and acquire data on forest change without being hampered by clouds or sunshine. The optical-based satellite technologies that can be delayed when clouds obscure the view of forests will be supplemented by the RADD database, which is publically accessible on the Global Forest Watch platform.
