Responsibilities  

Alliance Management 

  • Support protection activities , to identify opportunities for growth, consolidation, and provision of protection response services/programs that allow the IRC to improve its response to the population it serves in the humanitarian context. 
  • Implementation of the training plan created for the project in Chimaltenango and Huehuetenango. 
  • Planning and guaranteeing the quality implementation of activities at the municipal and community level is what IRC is working with, through regular visits to the places where the activities are located , thus guaranteeing the quality and correct monitoring of protection strategies . 
  • Provide training and mentoring to community focal points or partners following a plan created for the duration of the contract in Chimaltenango and Huehuetenango    
  • Provide technical recommendations on how best to address the protection needs of people on the move and people at risk through recommendations on programmatic interventions based on continuous analysis of implemented activities. 
  • Provide support for the focal points of prioritized entities, following activities and monthly visits to the intervention sites of implementing partners or allied institutions .  
  • Assist in the coordination of partner agreement closing activities, including processes for obtaining lessons learned.  

 

Technical Quality 

  • Support the implementation of the program at the community level, ensuring that the correct structures are in place before implementation (e.g. referral pathways, mapping of safe spaces, organizational capacity, etc.). 
  • Provide relevant training to community focal points before implementation that allows them a technical structure according to the needs of the projects to be implemented 
  • Ensure that community focal points are equipped with referral and information management systems for the appropriate identification and referral of cases of people at risk, and that these processes are activated in a timely manner, in accordance with best practices and IRC policy. 
  • Identify additional training needs while implementation is underway. 

 

Supervision and Development of Personnel 

  • Support with the identification of entity focal points for coordination of protection activities . 
  • Support the focal points of the prioritized entities through frequent visits through mentoring and technical strengthening . 
  • Assume leadership when the expansion of the protection component is required and promote expansion to new geographic areas according to prioritization.  
  • Maintain open and professional relationships with local stakeholders and IRC team members, promoting a strong team spirit. 
  • Ensure timely completion and submission of monthly hours worked reports and annual work performance reviews. 

 

Monitoring and Reporting 

  • Coordinate with the Monitoring and Evaluation team the necessary tools to follow up on protection activities 
  • Monitor and consolidate information collected from community visits .  
  • Weekly and monthly report of beneficiaries served by implementing partners as established in the projects . 

 

Coordination and Representation 

  • Actively develop and maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders at the community level, coordinate to ensure universal protection standards, protocols (referral systems, data management systems, care pathways, public and municipal policies etc.) implemented and applied in all program coverage sites. 
  • Regularly attend coordination meetings at appropriate levels as required to contribute to the management and support of humanitarian assistance to people at risk across all agencies at different program sites .

Qualifications

Requirements: 

  • University degree in social sciences , pedagogue, social worker, psychologist, educational administration or related career 
  • Minimum of 2 years of work experience in training local government, civil society and NGO organizations . 
  • Understanding and prior work from humanitarian principles and support programming for populations affected by violence 
  • Proven capabilities in alliance management, and providing technical support and training to teams working for implementing partners.  
  • Ability to organize work, meet deadlines, prioritize work under pressure, coordinate multiple tasks, and maintain attention to detail. 
  • Demonstrated experience in working with vulnerable affected populations such as internal displacement, migrants, returnees, survivors of gender violence, child protection, disabled people, etc.  

Demonstrated skills and competencies: 

  • Strong skills in applying international and national legal frameworks 
  • Ability to train and facilitate other staff members in order to coordinate with the functions of the position 
  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills.  
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, effective in representing and liaising with external parties . 
  • Ability to focus on results, meeting goals on time and prioritizing deliverables . 
  • Solid leadership that allows remote supervision of teams in the field.  
  • Use of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel 
  • Intermediate level of spoken and written English language 
  • Vehicle and/or motorcycle driving
