Duties and Responsibilities

In accordance with the guidelines of UN Women Colombia and under the supervision of the Coordination of Projects in Public Management with a Gender Approach and Political Empowerment of Women, the Professional supporting the alliance for public management planning with a focus gender will perform the following functions:  

• Support the organization of the implementation of the actions planned within the framework of the alliance with the Embassy of Canada, for the planning of public management with a gender perspective with national and territorial entities and civil society organizations. 

• Coordinate with the corresponding territorial UN Women officials the development of the alliance’s activities for public management planning with a gender perspective.

• Support the preparation of local partnership agreements (PCAs) required for the execution of activities and the preparation of the terms of reference for consultancies and contracting processes and acquisitions of goods and services in coordination with the Service Center for the alliance for public management planning with a gender perspective.

• Support the organization of activities to promote the milestones established in the work plan, events, training, training of trainers, exchanges related to the alliance for public management planning with a gender perspective.

• Support cost control, the budget balance necessary to fulfill the commitments made within the framework of the execution periods agreed with the donor, generating alerts for the Coordination of Projects in public management with a gender focus and political participation when be necessary.

• Support the preparation of the required reports with the support of the Monitoring and Evaluation and Finance area.

• Ensure the visibility of the donor in events and communication products of the alliance for public management planning with a gender perspective.

• Carry out the Technical Secretariat of the strategy to access complementary funds for projects with a gender perspective of women’s organizations in municipalities that efficiently use the gender budget plotter.

• Support the design of the knowledge management strategy of the alliance for public management planning with a gender perspective with national and territorial entities and civil society organizations. 

• Support the articulation of the alliance for planning public management with a gender perspective with the Vice Ministry of Women, the National Planning Department and prioritized territorial entities in the support provided in the incorporation of the gender perspective in the process. planning and budgeting at the local level.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Professional in Law, Political Sciences, Social Sciences or related careers.
  • Professional experience of five (5) years of which at least three (3) years in research, or consulting, or activities and responsibilities in planning and implementation of projects, programs or public policies with entities of the Colombian State, and experience of at least two (2) years on topics related to planning or implementation of social projects, topics related to gender and women’s rights, and/or verifiable studies on gender issues or women’s rights.
  • Knowledge of the functioning of the Colombian State and the dynamics of design and implementation of public policies.
  • Knowledge of gender issues and women’s rights at a global or national level.
  • Knowledge or experience with/for the United Nations System or International Cooperation is desirable.
  • Spoken and written Spanish. 
  • Fluent command of English (spoken and written) desirable
