Duties and Responsibilities

In accordance with the guidelines of UN Women Colombia and under the supervision of the UN Women sub-office officer in Nariño, he/she will perform the following functions:  

Provision of reliable and safe driving services

  • Ensures the quality of service to internal and external customers.
  • Ensures the provision of reliable and safe driving services in office vehicles for the transportation of UN WOMEN staff and other officials of the United Nations system when necessary.
  • Provide driving service on official missions scheduled by the UN Women team to the different municipalities of the department, following the safety guidelines indicated by the SNU.
  • The provision of the service includes the delivery and collection of mail, documents and other items. Likewise, the official staff of the meetings and visitors at the airport. 

Vehicle suitability

  • Ensures availability of supplies including vehicle insurance, vehicle registrations, office directory, city/country map, first aid kit, as well as necessary spare parts in assigned vehicle.
  • Ensures that all immediate actions required by rules and regulations are taken in the event of an accident.

Daily maintenance of assigned vehicle

  • Ensures the correct maintenance of the assigned vehicle through timely minor repairs, arrangements for major repairs, timely oil changes, checking tires, brakes, car washing, etc.
  • Ensures cost savings through proper vehicle use by maintaining daily vehicle records, providing inputs for the preparation of vehicle maintenance plans and reports.

Support for office filing, messaging and other operational issues    

  • Ensures pickup/delivery of necessary mail.
  • Ensures the collection and organization of required documentation for the assigned vehicle.
  • Contributes to the proper functioning of the office in additional tasks as assigned.
  • Logistical support for event development.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor – valid driver’s license 
  • 2 years of work experience as a driver, safe driving record.
  • Desirable work experience as a driver in the territory of the department of Nariño, ensuring knowledge of the access roads to the municipalities and security elements. 
  • Previous work experience in the United Nations System or International Cooperation Agencies will be valued. 
  • Knowledge of traffic rules and regulations and skills in vehicle repair, knowledge of the department of Nariño.
