Responsibilities
• Coordinate and supervise specified actions required for the implementation of the MIKE Programme and its projects; monitor and analyze programme/project development and implementation; review relevant documents and reports; identify problems and issues to be addressed and initiate collective actions; liaise with relevant parties; ensure follow-up actions.

• Perform consulting assignments, in collaboration with the client, by planning facilitating workshops, through other interactive sessions and assist in developing the action plan the client will use to manage the change.

• Research, analyze and present information gathered from diverse sources.

• Coordinate policy development, including the review and analysis of issues and trends, preparation of impact evaluation or equivalent studies.

• Generate survey initiatives; review, analyze and interprets responses, identify problems/issues and prepare conclusions.

• Organize and prepare written outputs, e.g. draft background papers, analysis, sections of reports and studies, inputs to publications.

• Provide substantive backstopping to consultative and other meetings, conferences, to include proposing agenda topics, identifying participants, preparation of documents and presentations.

• Initiate and coordinate outreach activities; conducts training workshops, seminars; makes presentations on assigned topics/activities.

• Lead and/or participate in large, complex field missions, including the provision of guidance to external consultants, government officials and other parties and drafting mission summaries.

• Coordinate activities related to budget funding (programme/project preparation and submissions, progress reports, financial statements and prepare related documents/reports (pledging, work programme, programme budget).

• Prepare reports, convene, contribute to, and present technical reports on the MIKE Programme and on other assigned items for meetings of the Conference of the Parties (CoP) and the Standing Committee (SC); and coordinating reporting to the CoP and SC on the Elephant Trade Information System (ETIS), the conservation of elephant populations, the trade in elephant specimens and the implementation of the African Elephant Action Plan.

• Collects and analyzes data to identify trends or patterns and provide insights through graphs, charts, tables and reports using data visualization methods to enable data-driven planning, decision-making, presentation and reporting.

• Any other related duties assigned by the Supervisor.
Competencies
Education
Advanced University degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in natural resource management, business administration, project management or a related area is required. A first-level university degree in combination with two (2) additional years of qualifying work experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

Successful completion of both degree and non-degree programs in data analytics, business analytics or data science programs is desirable.
Job – Specific Qualification
Work Experience
A minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in programme management is required.

Demonstrated experience in coordinating activities related to budget funding, programme/project preparation, and working directly with project beneficiaries is required.

Experience in organizing and convening intergovernmental conferences and/or project partnership meetings, including preparation of documents and presentations is required.

At least five (5) years of work experience in regional and international organizations, preferably in developing countries within the UN system or similar organizations is desirable.

Experience with biodiversity-related issues, particularly with the work of the biodiversity-related Multilateral Environmental Agreements is desirable.

Two (2) years or more of experience in data analytics or related area is desirable.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language such as French and/or Spanish is desirable.

NOTE: “Fluency equals a rating of “fluent” in all four areas (read, write, speak, understand) and “knowledge of” equals a rating of “confident” in two of the four areas.
