How can you make a difference?

Working in close collaboration with fundraising teams in National Committees and country offices, PFP teams, Regional Support Centers, Programme Groups, and other UNICEF divisions, the incumbent is accountable for the following:

1. Project manage the private sector climate co-creation offer

This offer is being developed out of a pilot in Denmark that brought together a group of private sector entities to agree upon what makes a climate-resilient community, and where they see their own and UNICEF’s role in supporting it. Through the ensuing journey, we aim to secure the highest-level partnership commitments starting in 2024.

  • Work with the project working- and strategy groups to develop the project plan (including goal, timeline, donor pipeline, partner collaboration options, and other core project infrastructure) and ensure this is implemented within the agreed scope, time, and budget. • Manage the operations of the working- and strategy group, ensuring that they are progressing collaboratively and successfully against a clear project goal and timeline and are useful fora to drive success
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with global fundraising colleagues and collaborate with them to ensure that the project helps them engage their climate prospects and partners at the highest level • Run workshops to engage global prospects and partners with UNICEF’s climate work – with a focus on 4 markets.
  • Collaborate with the UNICEF COP28 team to ensure that the climate co-creation project is represented in UNICEF’s activities and partnership offers around this important milestone • Collaborate with the Programme Group to ensure that the scope of the climate co-creation project is actionable and fits with UNICEF’s mandate.
  • Monitor global and regional trends in high-value fundraising to ensure that UNICEF creates a robust and competitive offer, in line with audience motivations.
  • Manage the recruitment and work of any relevant external agencies or consultants and fulfill other project management duties as needed.

2. Identify, lead, and deliver on streamlined ways of working in the convening space to drive income growth from prospect and current 8-figure partnerships.

  • In response to internally and externally identified needs, support markets with and, where relevant take part in, identifying new engagement opportunities to engage prospective high-value partners able to enter ($10million+) partnerships with appropriate and relevant approaches and offers.
  • Where useful, act as a member of a ‘pitch team’ to deliver this engagement proposition to specific prospects.
  • Ensure that any new engagement opportunity has the support of PFP and NatCom champions and senior leadership and has a direct impact pathway to raising significant gifts from a high-value audience.
  • Where relevant, collaborate closely with Programme Group and Regional and Country Offices to ensure their support with any new initiatives.

3. Contribute to the Global Campaigns Team’s market knowledge and influence initiatives.

  • Work with the wider team to Identify the bottlenecks and roadblocks that are holding UNICEF high-value fundraisers back from securing $10M plus gifts and develop actionable recommendations on how to address these.
  • Identify trends in the high-value audience sector and recommend opportunities based on market and/ or audience knowledge to help build and sustain short and long-term fundraising strategies and growth.
  • Help drive brand awareness and stakeholder understanding of the opportunities for high-value audiences to partner with the organization.

4. Additional support on initiatives or projects as needed.

DELIVERABLES:

  • Ensure that planning and delivery of a climate-focused co-collaboration workshop with private sector partners by Q2 2024.
  • Ongoing developments of a co-collaboration model for engagement with new and existing private sector partners are planned and delivered to schedule.
  • Align, develop, and disseminate best practice guidelines on recognition offers across the high-value income streams.
  • Ensure that the follow up after the delivery of a climate-focused co-collaboration workshop is driven forward both personally and through relationship managers to result in income deliver for UNICEF’s progamme work.

Working Place:

  • Geneva, Switzerland is the official duty station. (Flexible work arrangements may be applied if there is a need.

To qualify as a champion for every child you will have…

Education:

  • Advanced university degree in Social Sciences, Humanities, Business Administration, or related field is required.
  • Alternatively, a first-level university degree in a relevant field combined with (2) additional years of qualifying professional experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

Experience:

  • A minimum of five years of relevant professional work experience is required preferably in major gift, corporate or foundation fundraising.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practice of high-value fundraising, as well as an understanding of international development is required.
  • Direct experience in cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding 6-7 figure private sector partnerships is required.
  • Direct experience working in project management is an asset.
  • Experience working in international organizations and on cross-divisional or cross-functional teams are additional is an asset.
  • UN/UNICEF experience is an asset.

Language requirements:

  • Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.
