JOB DESCRIPTION
Role and Responsibilities
The purpose of the position of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Officer is to contribute to the implementation of humanitarian Water, Sanitation and Hygiene services in the Urabá area, according to the NRC programmatic strategy. More specifically, the purpose of the position of WASH Officer (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) is to support project activities that aim for affected people to improve their health conditions, exercise their right to water and sanitation, for example, through access to facilities to have sufficient and safe water, sanitation and supplies that allow them to incorporate healthy hygiene practices. These actions respond to the strategic framework of the Basic Competence (CB) and its Theories of Change (ToC), the Area strategies, Country Operation, Global Strategy of the Water, Sanitation and Hygiene or ASH (WASH) Sector ) and NRC Global Strategy.
RESPONSIBILITIES
General Responsibilities:
1. Ensure compliance with NRC policies, tools, manuals and guidelines.
2. Implement delegated project portfolio functions according to the action plan.
3. Prepare and develop status reports required by management.
4. Ensure proper filing of documents.
5. Ensure that project activities are targeted to the most needy beneficiaries, and explore and evaluate new and improved forms of assistance.
6. Promote and share ideas for improving technical assistance.
Specific responsibilities:
1. Provide WASH services in an efficient and timely manner, in accordance with the Program guidelines and sector standards.
2. Generate tools to promote the participation of people, households and communities in the framework of emergency assistance and in support for durable solutions from the CB and all phases of the projects, as part of Safe Programming.
3. Propose and participate in improvements to tools and needs assessment exercises, with special mention to the CAP surveys on Knowledge, Attitudes and Practices and actions that allow analysis for prioritization of care, selection of the population with greatest needs and of interest to NRC as part of Secure Programming.
4. Analyze the information collected and prepare the relevant reports to guide the response strategy in the requested times.
5. Generate Communication, Education and Information (IEC) materials on WASH topics (infection prevention, hand washing, safe water management and consumption, good use and maintenance of WASH facilities, etc.), which incorporate the analyzes carried out and are based not so much on the acquisition of knowledge, but on the promotion of positive and healthy behavioral changes.
6. Generate key messages, methodology and accompany information and awareness sessions, as well as workshops or training processes based on the gaps found in the needs assessments and the existing material in the Operation, at the place of project implementation. in coordination with the planning of the WASH Program, other CBs, communities and humanitarian actors.
7. Distribute non-food items (hygiene kits, menstrual hygiene or dignity kit, water treatment kit, water management kit and sanitation kit) and monetary transfers or vouchers from the WASH sector.
8. Plan and implement impact measurement exercises (e.g., participating in PDM exercises) of the distribution of non-food items and NRC WASH sector cash transfers or vouchers .
9. Participate in the processes of community-based projects or projects framed in integrated programming, promoting articulation with the rest of CB and NRC departments.
10. Provide support for monitoring and documentation activities of the implementation of project activities carried out by implementation partners and/or contractors (action plan activities, contracts, financial expenses and project documentation).
11. Accompany the design, planning of strategies, protocols, methodologies and implementation of the WASH program response.
12. Ensure the development of the logistical, administrative and security procedures required for the development of the activities in charge within the established times.
13. In coordination with the supervisor, accompany institutional or humanitarian coordination spaces when required.
14. Provide the information necessary to complete the Beneficiary Database, matrices that consolidate progress in goals of internal and project indicators and/or information management system on the population served, services and products delivered by NRC.
15. Participate in NRC PCM (Project Cycle Management) and WASH program routines. 16. The others assigned by the supervisor in compliance with the objective of the position.

• Minimum work experience of three (3) years in similar positions in the humanitarian aid context.
• Previous experience working in complex and volatile contexts
• Verifiable experience related to the responsibilities of the position
• Written and verbal fluency in the English language. Specific skills, knowledge and experience of the context:
• Professional in the health sector, psychology, social work, architecture, engineering or related career in the field of hygiene, sanitation and water promotion.
• Minimum professional experience of two (2) years working with national/territorial government entities, agencies of the United Nations system, the Red Cross movement or other humanitarian organizations on issues related to WASH (Hygiene Promotion) in contexts. of emergency.
• Relevant work experience with mixed migratory flows. • Knowledge of national and international regulations for humanitarian action, health and WASH.
• Minimum one (1) year professional experience in projects where you have developed participatory methodologies for hygiene promotion and the implementation of WASH projects, CAP tools and behavior change methodologies.
• Skills for working in multicultural contexts with Afro, peasant and indigenous communities, mixed migratory flows.
• Proven experience using MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point).
• Professional experience in the use of software related to graphic design (for example, InDesign) and information analysis (Power BI) is positively valued, but is not exclusive of the process. 2.
