Position Summary:
The community mobilizer will be responsible for providing direct support for the implementation of the protection program for migrants in transit, returnees in the border municipalities of Huehuetenango in Guatemala. This will include developing community briefings, identifying potential crisis case management beneficiaries, and implementing mobile safe spaces at key points in the intervention area. The community mobilizer will also coordinate activities on the ground, providing information materials and holding meetings, as well as ensuring liaison with the community, local organizations or other key actors. Likewise, the community mobilizer, in coordination with the case manager, will be responsible for the exchange of information at the community level, as well as the design and delivery of workshops and coordination with organizations in the area. It will be ensured that all training carried out by the protection team conforms to the best principles and guidelines that contribute to the greatest possible impact on the target population.

Main responsibilities :  

Coordinate community participation activities through regular monitoring and meetings with a frequency to be defined.
Identify strategic points for the establishment of mobile safe spaces for mobile people who require project assistance.
Coordinate closely with the protection case manager to ensure that migrants receive up-to-date information on the services available for their needs.
Develop and adapt protection training tools and modules suitable for the defined target population profiles.
Design, program and facilitate participatory training for community committees and strategic entities in the prioritized intervention area.
Hold regular meetings with those responsible for the protection area to identify training needs and gaps, and design appropriate strategies to address them, including strategies to mobilize full participation during training.
Compile training reports to incorporate into broader project reports and to share with external stakeholders as necessary.
Guarantee the preparation and timely presentation of documentation of the different actions of the project according to their role and assignment.
Schedule and facilitate community-based participatory protection training.
Perform other duties, as needed or requested by supervisor.Key working relationships:

Qualifications

Position requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Communications, Education, Human Rights or some area related to Social Sciences.
At least two years of previous professional experience in a similar position, preferably in a non-governmental organization.
Experience and background in protection and knowledge of the context of displaced populations and migrant populations.
Experience in teaching courses and training trainers on the protection of human rights
Experience in designing training materials and facilitating these trainings for adults and adolescents
Broad understanding of human rights and protection principles
Experience in the preparation and management of budgets and work plans
Extensive knowledge of the Huehuetenango referral network
Knowledge of the organizations and dynamics of relationships of entities that provide care
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to multitask
Respects and meets established times
Relates and works well with people of different cultures, genders and origins
Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and email application programs

Demonstrated skills and competencies:
Management and organizational skills.
Excellent time management skills and meeting objectives in time and quality.
Knowledge of relationship dynamics for community mobilization.
Excellent communication skills with internal and external entities.
Good interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team as well as independently.
Flexible and able to work in a dynamic and diverse environment.
Must have computer knowledge (Microsoft Word and Excel).
Availability to move and/or live in various areas of the intervention area such as Camojá, Huehuetenango.
