BACKGROUND INFORMATION
The UNESCO Lima Office offers the opportunity to recent graduate professionals or postgraduate students who want to have a learning experience in an international organization such as UNESCO. At the same time, volunteering is an opportunity to contribute to UNESCO’s core themes, in this case, in the field of the Education sector.
Volunteering will be carried out in a face-to-face environment, in which the volunteer will be able to develop his or her teamwork capacity, creativity and other professional skills with the support of the professionals who coordinate the different projects and programs.
Objective of volunteering
After the volunteer period, the volunteer:
1. You will have acquired knowledge about the thematic axes in which the UNESCO office in Peru works, with emphasis on the Education sector.
2. You will have gained practical experience and expanded your skills in the field of education.
3. You will have deepened your knowledge of national and regional educational policy from the Human Rights, Intercultural and Gender approaches.
4. You will have strengthened your analytical, communication and interpersonal skills.
5. Your ability to work as a team will have improved.
This volunteering is subject to the UNESCO regime, in which there is no remuneration and the volunteer is required to have medical insurance that must be presented to the Organization. Volunteering is for a minimum period of 6 months, at the end of which and upon presentation and approval of a report on the work carried out, the corresponding certificate will be issued to the volunteer.
OVERVIEW OF THE FUNCTIONS OF THE POST
To fulfill the objective, the volunteer will have the functions of:
1. Support the Education sector in the implementation and monitoring of activities, programs and projects of the Sector. They are related to secondary education, rurality, Education for Sustainable Development, Inclusive Education, considering the needs of refugees and migrants and other groups in vulnerable situations.
2. Support in raising awareness and advocacy related to the implementation of the SDGs, especially SDG 4.
3. Support in the preparation of documents, reports, minutes, etc.
4. Develop other activities that the Education Sector coordination deems necessary.

COMPETENCIES (Core / Managerial)
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Recently graduated professional with a degree in Social and Human Sciences, International Relations, Philosophy, Political Sciences or similar.
• Work experience of 1 year or more (disabled).
• One or more experiences in social programs and/or volunteering.
Languages
• Spanish at native level (mandatory)
• Intermediate English (desirable)
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
• Intermediate use of Office
