Duties and Responsibilities

Under the responsibility of the Women, Peace, Security and Humanitarian Action Program Manager, the Program Analyst will work closely with his supervisor and other members of the program and office to implement the program activities of the Unit in compliance with UN Women rules and procedures.

The Program Analyst will contribute to the effective management of UN Women programs within the Office by providing substantive contributions to program design, formulation, implementation and evaluation. The Program Analyst guides and facilitates the implementation of UN Women programs by monitoring the results achieved during implementation and ensuring the appropriate application of systems and procedures, and developing improvements if necessary. The Program Analyst works closely with the operations team, UN Women headquarters staff, government officials, multilateral and bilateral donors and civil society to ensure successful implementation of the program. Summary of main functions:

Contribute technically to the development of program strategies in the field of Peace and Humanitarian Action

  • Provide substantive contribution to the design and formulation of program and project proposals and initiatives;
  • Identify areas of support and intervention related to the program.

Provide functional technical support for the implementation and management of the Women, Peace, Security and Humanitarian Action program

  • Provide technical input for the development of the work plan and annual budget;
  • Support the implementation of program activities, particularly in the areas of peacebuilding and humanitarian action;
  • Contribute to the coordination of calls for proposals, including the organization of the technical review of committees and the assessment of partner capacities;
  • Review, coordinate and monitor the submission of financial and narrative reports from implementing partners.

Provide technical input to monitoring and reporting on the program or project.

  • Monitor the progress of the implementation of activities and finances using results-based management tools;
  • Write reports on monitoring missions, results, outputs and program outcomes;
  • Provide substantive input into the preparation of donor and UN Women reports.

Provide substantive technical contributions to the human resources and financial management of the Peace and Humanitarian program

  • Monitor budget execution and make budget realignments and revisions, as necessary;
  • Provide substantive input to financial reports;

Provide substantial input into partnership building and resource mobilization strategies.

  • Provide substantive inputs into resource mobilization strategies; analyze and maintain information and databases;
  • Prepare relevant documentation such as project summaries, conference papers, briefing notes;

Provide technical support to inter-agency coordination on humanitarian action to ensure coherence and alignment of UN Women programs with other partners in the country.

  • Provide support to the secretariat of the Gender and Humanitarian Thematic Group in monitoring meetings, preparing reports, monitoring meeting recommendations, and any other task related to the smooth running of the GTGH
  • Participate in humanitarian cluster and refugee response meetings, depending on delegation

Provide substantial contributions to advocacy, knowledge building and communications efforts.

  • Support the development of information documents, briefing notes and presentations related to Peacebuilding and Humanitarian action;
  • Support the organization of advocacy campaigns, events, training, workshops and knowledge products;
  • Coordinate the development of knowledge management methodologies and products on peace and humanitarian action.

Required Skills and Experience

Training and certification:

  • Hold a university degree (Bac + 4) in humanitarian action, Management and Project Management, economic sciences, social sciences or any other similar field
  • An undergraduate university degree with two additional years of relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of the postgraduate university degree.
  • Certification in project/program management would be an added advantage

Experience:

  • At least 5 years of professional experience, at increasingly responsible levels, in the field of implementation, coordination, monitoring and evaluation of development programs/projects, donor reporting and capacity building;
  • Experience in the Peace and Humanitarian field is an asset;
  • Experience working in international organizations, humanitarian organizations and the United Nations system (particularly UN Women) is an asset.

Language requirements:

  • Fluency in spoken French and fluent writing of French is required
  • Knowledge of the Sango language is required
  • Speaking and writing in English is an asset.
