Mission and objectives
The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) leads the global fight against illicit drugs and transnational organized crime, with a special focus on wildlife and forest crimes through the Global Program on Crimes Affecting the Environment. Environment (GPCAE). This program provides technical assistance to UN Member States to strengthen their preventive responses and actions in the criminal justice chain related to environmental crimes. Working closely with national and regional agencies, the GPCAE empowers counterparts and promotes the sustainability of initiatives to prevent, investigate and prosecute these crimes. Currently, the GPCAE collaborates with more than 30 countries in the world, prioritizing affected regions such as the countries of the Southern Cone, where great threats are faced by these environmental crimes. UNODC works alongside legal systems and law enforcement agencies of Member States, improving their regulatory frameworks, investigative skills and cooperation at national and international levels, with the aim of achieving more effective action against environmental crime, from the crime scene to the court.

Context
Maintaining a constant presence in digital media is essential, which is why the UNODC Environmental Team requires the support of an online UNV for the planning and design of always-on content. Together with the support of the communications team, the work of UNV online will contribute to an effective and coherent presence on social networks, strengthening the visibility and impact of the UNODC Environmental Team.

Task description
Write and design content for the 40 “always on” publications in the period of 8 weeks, in order to guarantee regular publications from UNODC accounts, mainly Twitter and sporadically for LinkedIn and Instagram. Graphic materials should highlight key issues, data, event invitations and related information, with the support and coordination of the Communications Team. Ensure posts are in line with UNODC communication guidelines and align with audience and best practices for each platform (Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn). Provide feedback and suggestions to improve the quality of posts, as well as the best times to post. Stay up to date on social media trends and come up with new ideas and creative approaches to content strategy. This comprehensive support will guarantee an effective and coherent presence on social networks, strengthening the visibility and impact of the UNODC Environmental Team in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Requirements
Required experience
Previous experience creating social media content and managing social media accounts is required. Graphic design skills as well as compelling storytelling ability are required to effectively communicate key messages and engage audiences. Familiarity with United Nations or UNODC social media content management or prior experience with the UN, especially UNODC, social media content creation and management preferred.
