JOB DESCRIPTION

The purpose of the position of Technical Assistant – Finance is to support the daily support service to the NRC office in Centro – URR in Medellín in the area of ​​Accounting and Finance.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The purpose of the position of Technical Assistant – Finance is to support the daily support service to the NRC office in Centro – URR in Medellín in the area of ​​Accounting and Finance.

General responsibilities:

  1. Ensure adherence with NRC policies, tools, manuals and guidelines.
  2. Support with the implementation of the portfolio of support functions according to the action plan.
  3. Prepare and develop status reports required by management.
  4. Ensure proper filing of documents.
  5. Promote and share ideas to strengthen support functions.
  6. Support the planning and monitoring of all financial, accounting and administrative actions of the office.
  7. Know and manage the accounting and financial tools that the NRC has implemented at a global and local level.
  8. Carry out the application of internal control in the Office, in accordance with the NRC Policies and manuals, such as: Financial Manual, Anti-Corruption Policy, Internal Control Manual, Cash Manual, Control Procedures for Counterparts, among others. .

Specific responsibilities: 

  1. Support the dissemination of NRC administrative, financial and accounting manuals and procedures.
  2. Process the office’s accounting facts, respond to the documents generated, support the regional accounting closing and the preparation of monthly reports and analyzes or when requested.
  3. Accompany administrative, financial visits, audits or any other internal or external entity, which are carried out on the projects developed with the Counterparts.
  4. Support the order and permanent updating of the office’s financial files (physical and electronic).
  5. Responsible for processing payments to suppliers and contractors, and monitoring the cash flow made to suppliers in the area, guaranteeing the due application and compliance with fiscal and tax regulations required in NRC and its respective internal control.
  6. Carry out continuous financial monitoring of the office budget and ongoing projects.
  7. Perform bank reconciliations and prepare checks.
  8. Responsible for the resources assigned under your position and the financial/banking management of the office’s checking account(s).
  9. Guarantee the due application of the fiscal and tax regulations in force in the country.
  10. Attend previously delegated meetings, as well as travel to designated areas, with strict compliance with safety regulations.
  11. Other tasks assigned by the immediate supervisor in compliance with the objectives of the position.

General professional skills :

  • Minimum work experience of 1 (one) year in support functions in humanitarian aid contexts.
  • Previous experience working in complex and changing contexts.
  • Verifiable experience related to the responsibilities of the position.
  • Some knowledge of the English language.

Specific skills, knowledge and experience of the context :

  • Technologist or student of the last semesters of Public Accounting, Finance.
  • Minimum one (1) year of proven experience in a similar responsibility.
  • Solid knowledge of Colombian accounting and tax regulations.
  • Proven experience using MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point).
  • Advanced command of Excel is desirable.
