- Objective :
Partnership development remains a strategic activity for UNICEF Gabon. Efforts are aimed at expanding partnerships with the private sector and the UNICEF office would like to revitalize partnerships with public and private institutions. The office sets itself the objective of renewing partnerships with public institutions in the promotion of good governance towards children and exploring the engagement of the private sector in the promotion of children’s rights.
In this context, the office has already launched partnership prospecting with public institutions, notably the town halls of Libreville and Port Gentil, parliaments, some private companies and the Rotary club. Due to lack of capacity and resources, it is important to have a dedicated, full-time person to manage the development of new partnerships and ongoing relationship management activities, including but not limited to limit, develop and manage partnerships.
- Main expected results :
The incumbent collects, analyzes and communicates information in a manner that draws factual conclusions to inform approaches to partner relations and support substantive discussions with partners. He captures relevant information and progress made, and ensures information is shared internally.
Accurate and timely information for partners will strengthen the credibility of the organization, which, in turn, will build trust and increase the organization’s resources. In-depth analysis and management support can increase financing opportunities.
How can you make a difference?
- Contribute to the implementation of the work plan for the country office, to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of results, in line with the new UNICEF resource mobilization strategy.
- In discussion with the supervisor, develop an implementation plan for the UNICEF resource mobilization strategy with a very clear roadmap on private and public sector engagement.
- Develop/finalize resource development tools for each program
- Monitor the smooth running and implementation of partnerships initiated with the private sector (FEG, business, Media) and action plans with public partners (National Assembly, Town Hall, Economic and Social Council, etc.), and covering the programmatic sectors of education, health, child protection and social protection;
- Follow discussions at regional and global level for prospecting and identification of new potential partners in the public sector in response to program needs, particularly in the programmatic sectors of education, health, protection of child and social protection;
- Follow up with each program the commitment of the identified partner and begin discussions until the development of an opportunities document for submission to the approval request;
- Update and maintain information on the private sector engagement plan and all partnership and program reporting requirements, in accordance with internal standard operating procedures;
- Assist the supervisor in maintaining effective relationships with partners, to keep them informed on important UNICEF operational issues;
To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…
- A post-graduate university degree (Bachelor’s degree) in international development, public affairs, international relations, political science or other related field
- At least 2 years of professional experience in partnership or external relations, liaison and/or any activity related to resource mobilization, preferably in an international organization, is required.
- Experience in working relationships with national institutions and the private sector
- Work experience demonstrating good negotiation and advocacy skills
- Solid experience in writing concept notes and project proposals
- Fluency in French and a good level of English.
