Scope of Work
Support the development of engaging communication content
• Work with the Communications Specialist, project communications experts to develop engaging and informative blogs, feature articles, impact/human interest stories and social media content.
• Identify subjects/stories of interest pertaining to the programme’s efforts to develop communications products.
• Work with the Communications Specialist to conceptualize, draft and develop innovative visual assets such as infographics, animations and video clips with colleagues, vendors and partners.
• Work with the Communication Specialist to boost the social media and online presence of UNDP Kazakhstan through engaging written and audio-visual content.
• Maintain regular coverage of UNDP Kazakhstan programme activities on the of the corporate website and other online platforms including Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn, etc.
Support the implementation of the communications, knowledge management and visibility strategies and plans
• Support the development and implementation of programme-based communication and information strategies.
• Provide technical support to the UNDP Kazakhstan Country Office team in the development and appropriate use of communication and advocacy tools (i.e. newsletter, websites, posters, brochures, pamphlets) to increase visibility of the programme.
• Support the research, writing, translation, design and production of communication assets, such press releases, communication reports and publications, and dissemination among partners, stakeholders and the mainstream media.
• Support programme-related knowledge building, management and sharing activities for both external and internal audiences
• Contribute to the creation of content for specific stakeholders, including presentation decks, photos, videos, programme briefs, webinar/event cards, etc.
• Assist in organizing events, webinars, launches of publications, seminars, conferences and global campaigns.
Provide support to administrative and organizational activities, related to implementation of the
CO communications and advocacy activities:
• Follow up on administrative and procurement processes, payments, related to the execution of the communications and advocacy activities of the CO.
• Assist in preparing the terms of references for the communication activities, products, etc.
• Manage the translation process of communication materials, terms of references, etc.
• Work with vendors.
• Perform other administrative duties as requested by the UNDP Kazakhstan Country Office.
Institutional Arrangement
The Communications associate develops and implements communications strategies of the country office in line with the related corporate strategies and plans under the overall guidance and direct day-to-day supervision of the Communications Specialist, with inputs from the UNDP Kazakhstan Country Office.

Min. Academic Education
Secondary Education is required.
University Degree in Journalism, Communications, Political Sciences or related field will be given due consideration but it is not a requirement.
Min. years of relevant Work experience
6 years (with high school diploma) or 3 years (with Bachelor’s degree) of relevant communications experience preferably providing communication packages at the national level to promote the activities of an international development organization.
Required skills and competencies
Experience in developing informative blogs, feature articles, impact/human interest stories and social media posts.
Experience in developing social media assets, designing visuals for communication purposes
Desired additional skills and competencies
Experience in organizing events, conferences.
Knowledge of website management tools
Required Language(s) (at working level)
Excellent written and spoken English, Kazakh and Russian
