PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

The person holding the position will be in charge of designing and leading the Communication Strategy for Programmatic Impact, which involves two levels of work: 1) communication for social and behavioral change, communication with communities and community involvement as components of programmatic design and implementation. ; and 2) communication about the impact of the programs towards key actors, with emphasis on government authorities.

The person must be able to work with a minimum level of supervision, lead activities according to their area, perform in-depth analyzes and compile reports to maintain the consistency of information and smooth execution of projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The person holding the position will have the following responsibilities:
1. Lead the implementation of the Communication Strategy for Programmatic Impact of the Country Office, developing relevant activities to meet WFP’s programmatic objectives. The design of the Strategy must be reviewed regularly as adjustments are made to the programs and validated with the Program Unit.
2. Guide and orient colleagues from the Field-Area Offices and staff from WFP’s implementing partners to ensure the implementation of the Strategy in the states where WFP works.
3. Identify and develop alliances that allow an innovative, cost-effective design with high programmatic impact.
4. Lead community engagement activities, specially designed for each target population and project purpose, considering their needs and context (eg people with disabilities, indigenous population, children, etc.). Among the main topics to be discussed are nutrition, food security, entrepreneurship, gender and protection.
5. Develop communication activities and products that consider participatory approaches and methodologies, that generate interest and ensure community participation in WFP programs.
6. Serve as a link between the Communication and Program Units, adapting programmatic communication for different external audiences.
7. Coordinate with the Analysis, Research and Monitoring (RAM) area of ​​the Program Unit, consultation and research exercises with different stakeholders to collect information on the barriers and facilitators related to behavior change, as well as to identify channels and appropriate implementation modalities.
8. Support the development of a Social and Behavior Change (SBC) strategy according to the objectives of the different WFP programs.
9. Contribute to gender mainstreaming in WFP activities through community engagement strategies and other gender-sensitive and transformative actions. Contribute to the preparation of accurate and timely reports on programs and activities that allow for informed decision making and consistency of information presented to interested parties.
10. Liaise with internal and external counterparts to ensure effective collaboration, monitor ongoing projects and highlight potential risks to project execution.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS REQUIRED

Education: University degree in social communication, humanities, social sciences or related areas.

Languages: Spoken and written command of the Spanish language. Fluency in the English language (desirable).

Experience: 1 year of post-graduate professional experience in communications and/or public relations, in the public or private sphere. Experience of humanitarian or development activities is desirable.

Skills: Use of Microsoft Office tools (Word, PowerPoint and Excel), use of multimedia design and development tools

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

SERVICE STATION (City, Country): Caracas, Venezuela.

DURATION: 6 months with the possibility of extension.
