 Scope of work 

The main objective of this position is to support the financial and administrative management of the project, while contributing to the planning, follow-up and monitoring processes of the project’s activities and objectives. This will be done in order to facilitate the integration of the Just Socioecological Transition approach, promoted by the Just Socioecological Transition Office of the Ministry of the Environment (MMA). To this end, its functions and expected results include:

  1. Support the financial management of the Just Socioecological Transition for Chile project, manage the budget and renditions, acquisition plan, inventories, and other similar requirements within the framework of the project.
  2. Support the administrative management of the Just Socioecological Transition for Chile project, including managing tickets, travel expenses, events and other aspects related to the logistics of the project. Also considering the organization and support of project information, the administrative monitoring of consultant or service contracts, and other requirements of a similar nature within the framework of the project.
  3. Collaborate with the Project Coordinator in the planning, follow-up and monitoring of the operational management and implementation of project activities, including the preparation of reports or other similar requirements.
  4. Support the formulation, application, monitoring and/or evaluation of initiatives and funds that are prioritized by the project or by the Just Socioecological Transition Office, considering the framework of administrative powers for said support.
  5. Provide support in all areas and functions of the project, as required by the Project Coordinator, and that are linked to the activities and objectives of the Project. 
  6. Maintain periodic coordination with the OTSEJ professionals, as well as participate in work meetings or any other instance that is required within the framework of the project objectives.
  7. Provide permanent and fluid reporting to the Project, Program Area and counterparts and implementing partners of the project (OTSEJ) on the progress, being proactive in highlighting the risks that may arise within the framework of the implementation of the Just Socioecological Transition agenda. 
  8. The incumbent performs other duties within his or her functional profile that are deemed necessary for the efficient functioning of the Office and the Organization.

4. Institutional Agreement

The hired person will work under the direct supervision of the Project Coordinator and in direct relationship with the Just Socioecological Transition Office of the MMA and the Environment and Sustainable Development Program team. He will work in the Ministry of the Environment, although he may be required to attend UNDP offices.

6. Minimum qualifications of an NPSA
Minimum academic education required

  • Complete secondary education.
  • Bachelor’s degree or professional degree in Environmental Sciences, Social Sciences, Engineering, Public Administration or similar careers will be favorably considered, but is not a requirement.

It will be considered an advantage to have a professional degree in the aforementioned areas.

Minimum years of relevant work experience

Minimum 6 years (with completed Secondary or Technical Education) or 3 years (with a bachelor’s degree and/or university professional degree) of relevant experience. 

Relevant experience will be understood as the set of work experience that includes:

  • Experience in administrative and/or financial management in projects or initiatives linked to environmental management and/or just transition.
  • Experience in planning, monitoring and evaluating processes and projects related to environmental management and/or just transition, including experience in the preparation of documents and reports linked to this type of initiatives.
  • Experience in just transition, climate change and/or environment in the field of implementation of local public policies or local governance.

It will be considered an advantage , in the case of graduates or professional graduates, to have a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience and 10 years in the case of minor academic training.

Required skills and competencies
  • User level management of Office (Excel, Word and PowerPoint.)
  • Management of collaborative tools and storage clouds.
  • Experience in using management and ERP tools.
Desirable skills and competencies

Desirable technical skills and competencies:

  • It is desirable to have postgraduate studies (Master’s degree or higher) in Social Sciences, Environmental Sciences or a related field.
  • Experience in management of inter-institutional networks. 
  • Knowledge of environmental institutions, regulations, environmental public policies, public management tools and instruments on the subject.

Other skills, knowledge and competencies of interest:

  • Demonstrate interest in the work of the United Nations and UNDP in particular, as well as commitment to the values, mission and vision of the Organization. 
  • Experience or knowledge of the gender perspective in the environmental field. 
  • Skills in facilitating dialogue, consensus-building, participation and conflict management.
  • Skills and high capacity for both oral and written communication, teamwork, self-learning, rigor and organization.
Required languages ​​(at work level)
  • Fluency in the Spanish language is required.
  • Intermediate knowledge of the English language.
